Clifton Underpass

Does anyone know anything about this project? like where it starts and where it will lead to, or even how long it’s going to take? The lanes in Bath Island and behind the Alliance Francaise have turned into a major nightmare now that the road from Teen Talwar to Schon Circle has been blocked. I have no idea what the authorities are up to. Although on second thought we complained like hell about the Shahrae Faisal/FTC flyover and that turned out pretty good in the end. But still, I wish I knew more about the underpass… and I hope all the trucks and tankers get buried in it one day.

And whatwould life be without trucks and tankers? karachi doesnt have water as it is, and without tankers i really see life moving on. what about fuel, that is transported via tankers? hmmmm. yes wlife without them would really be such heaven. Correct?

I believe the underpass begins from Mai Kolachi end through submarine. And i believe schon circle might lead into submarine. not sure about that. do check the papers. im sure we’ll ahve something there.

although an underpass is much needed at that location, but until it is constructed the life of people passing by would be hell. I also want to know more about the project, but all i hear is just speculations. The most attractive scnenario is that the underpass will start after clifton bridge (in front of PSO House) and end near The Point. How long it will take is totally unknown. If the underpass is really that long, it can easily take upto 2 years. Let’s see what happens.

Time needed to complete the project = Time given by authorities + 2 years.

actually time given by authorities is 8 months so we should estimate it to be 32 months about. the pass begins at gulf i think, and ends at mid-east. mail kolachhi is being expanded to accomodate a free flow of traffic.

sometimes, for development, we need to forget abouot short-term agony. try being in ubl at an office with old red chairs and tables u cant imgine. try relocatini to an office without any space. after eight months of pain, u get to si among the most grand offices ever satisfying me thinks…. that is, if youo are open and welcome to teh idea of the great change.

most of u were probably too youong to remember what schon circle presented. i was 10 at the time, travelling from pechs to clifton road o reach school. he rouondabou was HUGE! with onoly two lanes to accomodate traffic. imagine havinig st.mike’s there, cjm, and other schools in the vicinity. imagine a school which starts off an intake of 4000 students. hats abouot 8000 cars at morning time, for three schools. immaginne traffic (yes st.michael’s started off wih 4,000 students). imagine two lanes. imiaigine a dug up roundabouot, narrowing space further. today, we have hte gift called schon circle. whining helped right? yes. two academic years of agony helped us reach school faster right? DAMN EM! why did they make schon circled and ive us so much peace? and why the torture of two eyars and so much traffic.

OH WAIT! ever consider backtracking and blaming st.mike’s for starting off with so many students? na hota st.mike’s, na parti schon circle ki zaroorat! right? yes. right! in fact. if it were;nt for the traffic, we might still have had that huge rouondabouot wth its lovely stonoe fountain and the frangipani and pansies and roses and lillies today. SIGH! why make us suffer that way?

oh wait. lets start coomplain abouot teh development of mai kolachi now. our boat basin might still have been flooded with water if the mai kolachi was not metalled!

typographical error. 18 months is specified time and i meant 3000 cars.

The underpass begins from the teen talwar area, and goes under schon circle towards do talwar. A second underpass cuts from Mai Kolachi towards the boating basin road I believe. There is no underpass currently in the works for Submarine Chorangee.
