Bring back the trees.

I’ve just come back from a whirlwind trip to Islamabad – was attending the Youth Leaders’ Conferene there – and I just cannot get over how clean the city is – and the greenery is amazing. Post sunset, the air was so still that you could hear the frogs jumping about. Coming back to the point, the trip to Islamabad made me realize how concrete our city has become – we have hardly 4-5 parks which are well maintained, trees are being chopped down every day to make room for more horrendous billboards, etc. Why can’t the multinationals take up beautifying the city as a cause? One of the parks in Islamabad is in fact sponsored by Shell, and all you can see are gorgeous trees overlooking the road, which makes me raise the possibility of a multinational sponsoring public parks in Karachi, similar to the ones in Lahore and Islamabad – are you listening Mr. Corporate Head?
