Finance and Trade Center

I have always been fascinated by the architecture of FTC. I have to take Shahrah-e-Faisal for work and every time I pass the building I can’t help taking a thorough look at it. There is really something different about it. Its color, its style, everything is really surreal. Ok, maybe I got carried away a little, but seriously, when I saw the building for the first time (the year was 1994 when I moved to Karachi), I thought it’s some kind of high-tech research facility where only highly qualified professionals are allowed. I was obviously disappointed when I found out that FTC accommodates only offices and there is nothing sci-fi going on in there. But still, the building continues to mesmerize me even today.

You’re not alone there. I used to think it was some sort of a hi-tech zone too. Quite an amazing architecture.

To the best of my knowledge, Habib Fida Ali Associates were the architects. They are also the architects for LUMS, SSGC (Civic Centre) and Siemens Pakistan, all buildings with both great interiors and exteriors.
