The Underpass

Is anyone else getting really frustrated with the sheer amount of traffic at the site of our soon-to-be underpass? The area, quite apart from being a central route for some of the largest buses in Karachi and one of the major shopping spots also is home to at least three schools in the narrower lanes. Thanks to a combination of the above, if you are considering passing through that particular area at around two in the afternoon, I would advise you to take a longer route, any route other than the Schon Circle one.

The cherry on the cake is the sheer gall of the authorities who, to assure enormous buses and cars alike of their safety as they cross, have places a flimsy rope barrier bound to metal rods stuck into the ground, which are supposed to save a car or bus from plummeting to their deaths in the two storey deep construction hole.

I had to pick my nephew from St. Michaels yesterday. I had no idea that they have also closed the road from Schon Circle to Boat Basin.

I took me 40 minutes just to cross section b/w Schon Circle and Boat Basin.

On the top, despite of recent ban on heavy vehicles during day time, all these monster trucks along with other cars (especially donkey carts) were using sad narrow service lane. One more thing, this service lane is in worst condition, full of bumps!

Just keep away from this area for next 5-6 months. Take the longer route.

    Regards,

    :)
