A peri-peri interesting tale

A couple of friends (one of whom is British and is on his first trip to Pakistan) and I went today to Nandos for a late lunch. Our orders of burgers arrived, and if you’ve ever eaten burgers there you’ll know how they’re served – open face. Anyhoo, so the British friend asked us whether he should eat the shredded lettuce. My friend and I answered “Oh it should be fine here, since this is Nando’s.”

Two seconds later, he found a caterpillar nestled in the lettuce on the bun.

That just pretty much throws my stereotype about Nando’s being fault free right out the window.

did you guys tell the Nandos people? what’d they do? (just interested cuz Pizza Hut people usually replace food you’re not completely satisfied with) (which would be an understatement here).

Yummy! You guys are “nashukra” for shunning the extra protien content discreetly passed on to you :P

Seriously, this is really an issue. All fast food chains are becoming unhygenic. Someone should do something. I remember 2 years ago I was at ITCN having Zinger from the KFC stall, and there was this guy who had found a 4 inch long steel nail in his Zinger! I even have a blurry pic (hey I was learning how to use my digital camera!) if anyone’s interested.

Thanks. I just had that a few months back when I was there, only found the half the caterpillar.

    tasted okay though.

Nando’s is highly over rated in karachi. The chicken seems to taste bland, marinated in a hurry. Nando’s in Dubai is not much better.

The good stuff is at the Toronto Nando’s

Yeah, Toronto’s is pretty good. Never bland. I’ve heard London’s is even better.
I was looking forward to going to Karachi’s but thanks to your posts I’m reconsidering. Plus, do they have any concept of customer service?? If only desi people would embrace and practice genuine customer service, their customer base would significantly increase. Why do they have to be so rude? Or have times changed…? Last I was there was in ’95.
