Dual identifications.

I went to NADRAís local office today to inquire about my ID card. Anyway, I noticed a banner on the walls threatening those who have dual identifications; asking them to return one of the NIC to NADRA if they posses two or else actions will be taken. It had a lot of peoples two different pictures with two different ID card numbers posted. Most of the people in the banner looked like Afghanís and Bungaliís (but that can be generalization, this is only what I felt).

What I wonder is, how did these people manage to find the loopholes in the system? They certainly didnít look like tech genius, was it because NADRAís system was flawed? And couldnít recognize their finger prints etc when they applied for the second card? It is possible, nothing is perfect and there are always rooms for improvement. Hope these holes will be filled along with a lot of customer support service improvements they desperately need.

Maybe they used someone else’s fingerprints. That would have been quite easy. Coz we don’t really know if NADRA uses fingerprint recognition or face recognition. I agree with you on the customer support service issue. It is really poor and they need to improve themselves to meet the rising needs.

For years , Afghans specially ( Bangolis always had a choice to get Pakistani Citizenship because Bangladesh was East Pakistan Once if we all remember ) had been not only been using fake but legitimate Pakistani Identifications since they were allowed to come to Pakistan . It’s our fault firstly , to allow these people to come to Pakistan’s Urban Areas where these people bought Pakistani Passports ( from Rs.1000 – Rs. 100000) ; rates must be very high now but one can easily get away with the right cash .

I think NADRA should start looking at people who got Pakistani Citizenship and had been using old IDs from a period of 1978-2005 .

Whether it is the new computerized id cards or the old ones the common thing is the people who are in charge of the system. They are the one who find loopholes in the system and exploit them. The new machine readable passport uses fingerprint and face recognition algorithm and i think it uses the nadra’s fingerprint database.
