Blackfish - Review

God, the Blackfish performance tonight was super funny. Even though Blackfish member Faris wasnt there and the audience was quite small, it was a great performance. Too bad we wont get to see them perform until after Eid, since they’ll resume performances after Ramadan. On an observatory note, audiences here need to learn how to be more co-operative and be less stand-offish. You’ll still look cool when you giggle, trust me.

Faulty SMV3.

SMV3 down again and we still donĂt have SMV4 or the fiber optic from India working yet. Backup from the skies are on.

this way or that way

While health officials take pride that Karachi has been recognized as polio-free city, it couldn’t get any more ironic that a major population is still deprived of clean drinking water.

Ramazan Beggar Invasion

Burka-Beggar.jpgKarachi Brace Yourself. The beggar community has issued a nation-wide call to all potential beggars and other wanna-be beggars to invade Karachi during Ramazan. I have heard people anxiously planning to travel from Interior Sindh to take part in the festivities during the holy month.

This organized mafia attacks innocent God-fearing-Fasting people like us who in pity will shovel out a 5-Rupee coin to this mafia, consider it as the Bhatta we pay them for leaving us alone, and you are allowed a peaceful passage until the next signal where a fresh gang invades your car.

I simply refuse to give money as a matter of principle and instead choose to buy a few bags of Biryani to hand that out. What do you do?

Blackfish!

Blackfish is performing at PACC on Sunday, 25th September 2005 - this will be their last show before Ramazan. Tickets cost Rs.250 (or Rs.200, really not sure about that) and are available at Agha’s Supermarket, and will be on sale at the gate before the show. Make sure you get your fishy dose of laughter before Remazan renders everyone crabby and/or hyperactive.

best place for Iftaar dinner

Now that Ramazan is just around the corner, I think it’s best time to ask this question. I know Pizza Hut offers the buffet deal, but I have noticed their quality is not same during Ramazan. What are the other places that serve good food for Iftaar dinner?

Costa Coffee!

Costa Coffee just opened in Karachi - I visited it today after hearing great comments about the place. They have a great decor, lots of space, very comfortable seats, and while the prices are steep, the servings are atleast 1/4th larger than Espresso’s. The coffe was blended perfectly, and the frappucino (Costa calls them Frescatos) was the best cold coffee I’ve ever had in Karachi. Costa Coffee is definitely going to do well.

Costa Coffee is open at Zamzama, in the MCB lane, which also houses Kaarvan Crafts.
