Why Karachi Rocks: Reason #14

Something happened today that really made me look at Karachi with new eyes. I’m working for an organization that deals in international graduate exchanges and developing leaderhip in the youth - and our team in Pakistan is headed by a bunch of people from around the world. One of them is Romanian and we all went out to Seaview today, and she was so excited to see the beach - even though it was 7:30 pm and quite dark - because she’d never seen the sea before in her life. Looking at her enthusiasm and excitement, I wondered how often I appreciate the beaches we have - even Seaview, with all the garbage and rank odor. Sometimes seeing Karachi through a non-Karachiite’s eyes can really make you feel proud of this diverse, stubborn and crazy city we live in :)

Actually its either seeing Karachi through a non-Karachiite’s eyes or going and living abroad for a couple of years that really increases the value of our city….. something that we take for granted..

    zag is absolutely right
you learn the value of your city when you are
    away from it…

I absolutely agree. Just living abroad provides you with a feeling which definately you won’t get living here.

And as we have already mentioned before in this blog, the reason Karachi rocks - because to many of us it is HOME.

I am proud of the fact that I am of Karachi, by Karachi and for Karachi. Karachi first, then Pakistan.

Arsalaan: I know you got carried away, but Karachi should never come before Pakistan!! That is the thing that starts discrimination and destroys a country.
