Relief Efforts Being Coordinated- Volunteers Needed

To add to the oodles of news and information, I was sent this email and asked to distribute, so not being sure if this was already covered by Huma or Hafsa (the 2 main news engines!) :), I am posting it up. Hope it helps anyone who is interested.

– There are LOTS of relief initiatives active in the northern parts of Pakistan.
– These including civil & military, national & international, and personal & organizational initiatives.
– Very few of them are coordinated, especially with regard to other initiatives.
– As a result, some places are getting too much aid while others are getting too little.
– These individual efforts need some kind of rudimentary coordination/information dissemination system.
– With your help, we propose to start one from Monday onwards in the form of a daily e-mail update.
– Every day a group of volunteers will phone up each initiative and gather information about it.
– Every day this information will be compiled and e-mailed to all other initiatives.

– This information will include:
1) name, contact information (names and numbers) of initiative
2) current location of each initiative’s teams, plus the teams’
location history
3) where these teams are going next
4) what goods/supplies each team has
5) what goods/supplies each team needs in the next 3 days
6) (optional) comments from the initiative

To do this we need two things:
1) Volunteers who will gather this information for us
2) A contact person in each initiative from whom this info will be

This is explained here:
with some dummy data to give you an idea of what we’d like to be doing.

If you can help us in doing this, please e-mail us with:
1) your contact info (name, e-mail address, phone number),
2) a list of initiatives that you can report on every day, and
3) each initiative’s contact information.

We want to send the first update on Monday afternoon so please reply AS

Thank you for all your help. Hope to hear from you soon.

Checked out the website. One of the best ones so far, and very useful. Common good sense initiative. Use them!
