Ebco v/s Naheed Supermarket

A LOT of people had told me that Ebco was far more expensive than Naheed Supermarket, which was quite true. However, today I got the shock out of my life. I went to the cosmetics counter at Naheed and asked how much a MAC concealer was for – 2200 rupees was the price they quoted. Shockingly, a few days ago at Ebco, the same product was priced at Rs. 3600. I can understand a 100-200 rupee difference, but 1400 rupees was extremely hard to digest. Why doesn’t anyone check these things, and more importantly, till how long will gullible customers be fooled?

I dont think it could be change, people have loads of money here and they love to spend. 1400 rupees difference is nothing for many and many more is earning less than that per month! Who is bother to check such stuff when people are happily buying?

I had a similar experience about a year ago with Agha’s selling the samething priced 40% more than Naheed. I was so shocked when i discovered the price at Naheed that after that day i have never once visited Agha’s

There is a place called Marriott Road near Boulton Market. The place is crowdy, there is no space for even walking on the streets and inside the market you can’t imagine!!!

I go there to shop for our stuff; my mother gives me a long list and my sisters as well, give me a damn good list of beauty stuff and what not.

I must admit that the prices there are damn damn cheap. Naheed and Agha’s import stuff from abroad and majority of the stuff they take it from these shopkeepers. I’ve heard that before big stores of the city namely Agha’s etc used to go there to buy in bulks but they have now hired purchasing agents who buy goods from Mariott Road; this way they get more cheaper rates and they can hide that they have imported the stuff from USA or Europe.

Zain, I know about the place, I used to go to same place to buy my cigerettes and Zippos. But I noticed one thing that shampoo and conditioners they sell most of it were either near expiry dates or not genuine. All am trying to say that before you buy, try to check the product thoroughly.

As far as this Agha’s or Ami’s shop is conncerned, its long known that they change the xpiry dates specially on baskin robbins cups and diet cola. Man, I suffered a really bad stomach pain becoz of this diet coke. These diet coke cans have arabin written on them and are imported from Dubai. Once they get near expiry dates or cross it, these supermarket guys change them, you know how i know this. TRY TO MATCH THE DATE MENTIONED IN ENGLISH AND ARABIC AT THE BOTTOM OF CAN !!!!!!!!!!

You can buy the same mac product from Ami’s at 1600/= only accidenlty i went there and checked it ,, just to know the price difference…

And Tanveer i don’t agree about Agha’s and Ami’s that they change expire dates… however i can bet on Paradise … when ever i tried to find any thing which is not avaliable in any super store .. but i can find it at paradise … and every time the xyz product is expired

I visited Naheed store on my last visit to Pakistan. There I found some products which were imported from USA. In USA these products are declared unfit for muslims as they contain pork, human hair and animal traces. This reserach was conducted by a eminent muslim professor at Cornell university new york.

Upon asking from one of the Naheed stores rep I got a angry look and no answer.

For more awareness on this subject you can visit websites like http://www.eat-halal.com or search for canadian and noth american societies working in this direction.
