a fountain jet? is that for a practical or an aesthetic purpose? i hope to God, there is a good reason behind this 225 million project. because unfortunately, unlike saudia, we don’t float on oil and should not be spending millions to be in the guiness book of fancy fountains.

I have no idea about the purpose. There is a picture of it too on Dawn’s web site, if u like to see.

i TOTALLY agree with quratulain. its pathetic, unless ofcourse seeing that we’ve beat the rest of the world when in comes to literacy rates, life ex[ectancy, infant mortality, people under the poverty line…and some remote form of CRISIS management in pak. and are coffers are overflowing with surplus cash, lets build a damn FOUNTAIN…when people within a 200m radius of that thing wont have clean DRINKING water.

The sickening thing is that just a few miles from this water fountain there are severe water shortages – people have died from contaminated water, and there have been numerous riots already…

I have seen that water jet in Jeddah. Its beautiful indeed with anarabic perfume type bottle in the base. In night it is illuminated in blue colour & can be easily seen when landing or flying over the city.
As in Karachi , it will be costly but good sign.
This also reduces chances of flooding .

The purpose of this is to spend money on something that isnt needed whilst at the same time totally neglecting thigs like

    1. Mass transit system
    2. Crime prevention
    3. water shortages
    4. Power outages
    5. poverty

    must I go on?

When they can’t get a simple thing like the drain grills at both ends of the underpass right, I wonder how they’ll manage to shoot water 500 ft into the air!? Another colossal waste of funds.

On the contrary i would say..its a good thing that they are putting up the highest water jet!!! finally they are attempting to do some thing bold enough to either make a fool of them selves or shine through!!
The raeson why we are unable to reslove any issues of our 58 yr history is BECAUSE we react to everything done in this country half heartedly!

I think we all need to to mature as nation, lets not be cynical n skeptical to begin with…..
that shows such lack of love for the country!
    regards
    subul.

    Just a quick note!!!!!
This fountain cant be called worlds highest fountain jet. In Arizona, USA, a 560 feet high fountain is in operation from the last 30 years. I love to see Karachi, setting new records but they have to be TRUE.
For pictures and details about that fountain, visit http://www.fountainhillsguide.com/attractions.html

I don’t agree with anyone who is criticizing this project. KPT is spending its money to make Karachi beautiful which is very much needed. if this would have been done in Lahore or Islamabad I am sure then everyone must be having a different opinion to it. Juts let go. just look what you as an individual doing to make things better have u stopped running through traffic lights, have u stopped throwing garbage outside your car while driving there is more i can say but I hope you all got the point
