Aaj ki History

12th Nov. 1985:

“Inauguration of Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan by President Zia-ul Haq and Prince Karim Agha Khan.
President Zia described the University as “the greatest gift to Pakistan.”

Hmmm no doubt, thats the only CLEAN hospital in Karachi, where I feel like going for checkups or medicines.

So Happy Birthday Agha Khan University Hospital, Karachi!!

i kind of have a love and hate relationship with aga khan – yes, they have great doctors, the place is clean and all that, but you have to deal with a shortage of nurses, junior staff that is too unconcerned to listen to you, etc. and plus, its SO expensive – and the fact that private hospitals still arent authorized to treat accident cases always makes my blood boil. nevertheless, akuh is the best hospital we have around. the sad part is, our government hospitals could be the same way, if only they had the right management and adequate funds.

A valid point to be discused for the benefit of everyone here – Why would I never go to Agha Khan….

I ditto exactly Huma’s concerns almost word for word – if you pay for first class treatment then one SHOULD get first class Tz from the best, not junior doctors experimenting on you and neither a case full of mis-disgnosis. To be honest I would recommend people to AVOID Agha Khan falt out for everything and choose LIAQUAT NATIONAL – I have that on my ONLY list of to go hospital.

I love AKUH too, especially their grounds, but it’s insanely expensive!

We’re having our baby there, but it could cost us upto 1 lac if its a c-section (in a private room, upto rs80,000 in semi-private).

The pregnant woman does all the work, and at the end of the day, the hospital gets paid for it. Thats the way i see it. But its the price we’re paying for the doctor we like the most (who won’t even be available at delivery time if its at night), and the best best equipped hospital.
