Karachi is a safe city to live in.
3rd car stolen in the neighborhood within 2 months, a guy I know had his cell snatched on Tariq Road about a week ago. Friend had his cell snatched outside his work place yesterday. This aunty in neighborhood had her cell and money snatched day before yesterday.
And every time I hear any official making a statement on TV etc, I hear them saying ìLaw and order situation is under control in Karachiî. Either I need to get my eyes checked, or they need to get their brains checked.
PS: I will bet on the second option.
Thanks for your honest post. You at least have acknowledged the problem. Please add “agwa barai tawaan” and “dakaiti” in this list as well. I wonder what the heck the government is doing about this. I just do not understand why they can control this in Islamabad and not in Karachi. The “agencies” can find terrorist in their “rat holes” but they cannot “smoke out” these culprits in Karachi.
I love Karachi, but due to these reasons I have to think twice before every visit.
It is very embarassing for Karachi and Pakistan. If government should focus on alleviating poverty and unemployment, such occurances can be avoided. I was born and brought in Karachi and I have deep passion for the city. There is a sense of depravation and animosity among our youth caused by several internal and external factor. The city has gone from bad to worse in last 20 years. The resurgence of MQM in mid 80’s has brought nothing but bloodshed to innocent bystanders. Their leaders should be hanged publically!
