But somewhere in the middle of this picture was the Moon, evidently proclaiming Zil Hajj.

This January, started off with a rough sound of firing and other explosives ñ scary too, and later in the night it rained, with a sweet chilly breeze. Wet streets looked beautiful in silent rain and yellowish streetlights.

Later, the day, was like any other Sunday would have been. The same sun, same air, same familiar sound and smell of the environment; the only difference was, it belonged to year 2006. As the eve started and the sun gently, slowly disappeared as it always would, there was a sight of the moon.

Roads were filled with same traffic, honks and rough driving. People were still shopping as I have always seen ëem do. Where,Ö where was the difference?

Perhaps, in the desktop clock of my computer and in the majority of the peoples mind ñ it is a new start. Is it? Really?

Days are always same. Its the time that changes. And its the time that will tell if this new year is new on the good side or on the bad side.

I am sure there will be alot of happiness, but I just hope that the sadness does not over shadows happiness just as it did last year.

Looking at the style and quality of life of an average Pakistani, I am not that much optimistic.

The world is going to change alot within the next few years. There will be three sides. The good, the bad and the worst ones. Which side will you choose. Decide.

I just read the translation of Quran whenever I get the time. It always has a very calming effect.
