I.I.C Road.

Who on EARTH came up with the idea of digging up I.I. Chundrigar Road? WHO!?! It has now come to the point where walking on the pavement is an impossible task, since the construction workers decided to dump truckloads of sand, and fragments of the road on the pavement. Hence, anyone who wishes to walk on I.I.C Road now has to walk on the main road, while navigating oncoming traffic and muttering last prayers under their breath, as the traffic never stops on that road. Of course, that also means that one has to cover their eyes and noses to protect themselves from sand flying in, hence one has to either walk on the street blinded, or pray that the sand will decide to miss their eyeballs just this once.

On a side note, the City Government has officially stopped all buses and mini buses from entering I.I. Chundrigar Road from today – the alternative routes are M.A. Jinnah Road and the Shaheen Complex Road. I didn’t see any shuttles plying on the road though, so have no idea if they’re going to use existing buses as shuttles or have special shuttles.

Ouch ! IIC’s gone really bad… but then, if you’ve lived in the clifton area this last year, this should be old news to you now.

Clifton’s been under ‘renovation’ under Tameer-e-Karachi program for more than that! Atleast after a time of hardship.. comes a time of peace (lets pray it does :p)

OMG today was the worst day at (near) IIC. I was stuck at the bridge for one hour and then near Tower for another hour. It was horrible and worst traffic jam ever, at least for me, at IIC.

Agreed! but wasnt that to be expected when once this news came out in the first place?? they say they are bringing good ol Karachi to international level but what they forget is that u just cannot change one thing out of the blue and sit back and watch!
walking on IIC is a nightmare even in normal situations withh all these ajeeb ghareeb ppl on the road, plus the traffic and plus the encroachments.
they made the decision sitting high up somewhere without realizing the problems to be faced by the ppl!
wesey on a sidenote; u should read that ‘walking culture’ wali post! maybe it’ll give u some ‘brighter points’ abt the whole situation! :-)

yes ppl…..this is the same metroblog…..

When i used to work there, i remember that the drama with IIC road started way back in sept or oct of 2004. First there was one hole, opposite the cotton exchange building, they fixed that after 2 weeks and then there was another, opposite the railway ground, then all of a sudden, there were 3. then they kept popping up (caving in i mean:P)
