Potential Nightmare

The city government has announced that it from the first week of March it will start work simultaneously on the following projects:

  • University Road-Sir Shah Suleman Road traffic intersection flyover ( Hasan Square )
  • Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road-Stadium Road intersection flyover (Time Medicos)
  • Ibrahim Rahimtoola Road-Sharea Faisal traffic intersection flyover (Karsaz)
  • Gharibabad Undrepass

With the amount of traffic passing daily at all these intersections, it is going to be a nightmarish situation for the residents of this area for the next few months. Let’s hope that they are provided proper detours and the work is completed on time.

Also, with this announcement all those people who are always complaining about work being done only in Defence and Clifton area will be satisfied.

Given that we all need these fly-overs, and underpasses, AND that we all need to commute to work and back, will the City Government be sensible enought to time their projects on a consecutive rather than simultaneous basis. Is any bank providing a helicopter loan yet? I’m willing to volunteer a landing spot, at a fee ;-P

Today I saw Mazim announcing these projects on GEO TV. I believe its great to start all these projects together, because once for ever, the problem is sorted out ..

Btw Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road ??? which road is that? is it karsaz road where snoopy used to be? If it is then how are they going to design the flyover??? with retailers on the left, concerns of noise pollution because of hosptial, national stadium ???? any idea of the plan?

They have been working on the bridge/ramp that connects Gulshan Block 13D to hasan square (sehba-akhtar road). It’s been a big and dirty mess since monday. People travelling through cars and large vehicles are suffering the most. Government has gone insane (wasnt it before?) they have no empathy towards the sick, old and children.

I have heard city nazim last night talking with kamran khan and he said 6 underpasses are going to built at liaquatabad, gharibabad, hasan square, time medicos and karsaaz – it’s going to be a long period of suffering for the citizens of these localities. I am seriously considering to get a job near home for atleast couple of years :(

I think the “Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road” is the one where AKUH and Liaquat Hospital are located…. cuz that’s the one the intersects with the stadium road at time medico junction….

Karsaz road is actually called “Ibrahim Rahimtoola Road”

have no idea about the actual design…. maybe someone else can explain it to us as to how they are going to make that one…

The government is probably not going to make any detours or substitute roads. When the clifton underpass was being constructed, traffic was at a standstill. Hopefully that will not happen here too.
