The current block on blogspot sites stops us from telling the world how we feel. This act will make us an invisible community in the international arena of ideas and ensuing decisions. Allow us to show the world what we stand for. Allow us to teach the world what we are about. Allow us. Free us. Stop blocking.
Wah Wah Wah –
Qibla!!
muq-qur-rr irshad ho jaye
LOL – what overly dramatised nonsense!
Could you (or someone) translate this for us ABCD’s please? Many thanks
Aalahazrat , do you when did Faiz wrote this poem :-) , man you made me laugh. Sitting in AC room and trying to act like Faiz. I guess govt. should put you in montegmeray jail. Faiz ki rooh tadap gahi hogi :-(
I guess I would have good time with Original Anon.
If the blogspot is blocked for the reasons I know…
i.e “coz of some blogs publishing those cartoons”
then dont you think we are supporting those idiots non-muslims by asking for “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” and all that????
I dont think blogspot is that big a price or worth it if it really is the reason.
Otherwise, if its some Bushy-Mushy-reason… Then I am with you all!!
The thing is that no matter what the reason. Our first knee jerk reaction was to burn our own shops and cars. This one was to stop our own voice. Why should we hurt ourselves as a reaction to that heinous act?
Also, Quoting poetry by one of our great poets is definitely not dramatization. It is about using a metaphor that is known to all and appeals to all. And I dont think the cirsumstances in which Faiz wrote this poem are the only ones where we are allowed to repeat them. If you want me to say that I can not come up with something as beautiful as Faiz, I will say it, I cant. So I use his words. Sometimes we have to rise above the levels of mediocrity and I would apologize for that.
For Farangi:
Speak, for your two lips are free
Speak, your tongue is still your own
This straight body is still yours
Speak, your life is still your own
See how in the blacksmith’s forge
Flames leap high and steel grows red,
Padlocks opening wide their jaws
Every chain’s embrace outspread
(Translation by Victor Kiernan)
Alaahazrat – what heinous act? The printing of a few cartoons a few months ago? The true heinous acts are the ones committed everyday in Pakistan and other Muslim countries, where poor people are abused, people are killed because of their religion, children are molested, women are raped and become the subject of jokes on some blogs, corruption is widespread. That is the true damage done to Islam and its teachings, not these few mediocre cartoons.
How many people are affected by this block and how many are hurt by what I mention? Do keep these things in perspective.
@original-anon
Regarding your last comment to Alaahazrat about the heinous acts….All I can say is Touche’!!
Could not have said it better myself.
God!!!!!!! i am really not beliving in eyes that educated youth doing all this(Crap)
The current block on blogspot sites stops us from telling the world how we feel.
are you blogspot member?I dont think so because you can still tell world by loggin into blogger.com and make post, you guys are really sounding like MMA leaders.Well done my frined,I salute your ignorance
@Orignal-Anon:dude i dont know your nationality but all i say that whatever you mentioned is 100% true and yes it happened and its still happening.
more severe offensive things have been done in past against Islam,Muhammad(SAW) and God ,for instance, rushdie’s satanic verses, new fake quran which is free to download ,fake cults or what not. Many of us do believe that this cartoon issue is nothing but political as we all know how many people actually follow God and His prophet Muhammad(SAW),we can fool to others and ourselves but not to God.Protesting is not even an Islamic concept and yet our so called religious mullhas are out on road with their big bellies.LOok at saudi arab, noone came out, they simply boycotted the products and brought their ambassador back, this is right way to take action,we are just on road and yet not boycotting anything, shame on us
So, in essence, everytime I have to protest something I should make an exhaustive list of all the five hundred million things that I oppose and only publish that complete list without any omissions? Be real.
What I posted was not about the cartoons, it was not about the rape of women in Pakistan, it was not about the pollution of our waterways, it was not about sub standard CNG kits, it was not about a low literacy rate in Pakitan, it was not about anything else except the current block on blogspot sites.
Next time you feel that your breakfast does not taste as perfect as you want, please first give a long speech on the cartoon controversy, its history, its ideals, its reason and its ensuing effects on the socio-cultural setup of Pakistan and the rest of the muslim world before you do that.
We are becomming obsessed with this. Can we not have any possible discussion in this country without it hurtling headlong into the abyss of those cartoons and people screaming bloody murder at a lack on inclusion of all of the other five hundred million things that we need to abhor and other people screaming at the top of their lungs about each and every thing that they think about this.
STOP OBSESSING!
A discussion about what colour shirts to wear, should be just that, a discussion about what colour shirts to wear. And so should a discussion about whether some blogspot sites should be opened for viewing or not.
@Original-Anon – I am just saying that I oppose the ban because of certain reasons. Should I not say things that do not concern a very large number of people? I felt something I said it. Should people reject it and oppose it simply because they dont feel the same way?
CONGRATULATIONS!it was a very good effort to appreciate our literature because it is very necessary for our new generation.because some of them r unknown the name of FAIZ,actually some of them r the followers of easter literature.in the i am saying agian THANKS!
Alaa – I just asked you to keep things in perspective. You mentioned the heinous act and said you wanted to tell the world what you stnad for.
Faisal – thanks.
Ali, thank Poo Poo Head for pointing out that this poetry was by Faiz.
@Original-Anon – Ok. Got it now.

What I posted was not about the cartoons, it was not about the rape of women in Pakistan, it was not about the pollution of our waterways, it was not about sub standard CNG kits, it was not about a low literacy rate in Pakitan, it was not about anything else except the current block on blogspot sites.
I assumed you were saying to me Only.
you and many ppl here like you cleared that they blocked for those damn cartoons only(as they all saying again and again),regarding cartoon issue, what i had to say i said on my blog,i am not member here so i coudnt make my own post,i said what i had toi on awab’s blog as well.
All of you who have been whining about banning of a a blog and considering it an attack against freedom are just exgratting nothing else, thts all i am trying to say, anyone can make posts on blog and read it,there are many other legitimate and necessary things which should be addressed by those pakistanis who thnk they are “enlightened” and “Moderate” rather making multiple useless posts about a damn ban of a blog,as somebody said that if govt trying to ban something which should be then it shoudnt be opposed, many pakistanis and muslims sites showed those cartoons, even our own Dr awab had reposted those images, even he didnt have such intention but not every reader could be educated and controlled like awab or others, they can react if they see such things online, could be more if they see on local sites. So calm down and stop protesting and ranting about ban.
Thankyou
(From Adnan’s comment)
“i am not member here sowhat i had to say i said on my blog, i coudnt make my own post”
Thank God for small mercies!
I am the owner of one of the 12 websites that were banned by the Pakistani government, resulting in the blocking of all blogspot blogs as well. we run a blog called Plus + Ultra, at plusultrablog.com . We have the inside scoop on how the ban came about. The actions of the Pakistani government are actually connected to the actions of a ring of Turkish cyberterrorists who have been attacking the same 12 websites for over a month now. Read all about it here:
http://dragonkeypress.com/blog/?p=971
well all I can say is content on ur site is one pathetic and total nonsense. And no I dont support ban because frankly I would like people to go and read it and find out what kind of sick brains you people have.
@Saadie:addressing to me??
@Orignal-anon:yeah i cant compete stupidity which i find here:>
How do i make difference between those westerners who have been preaching about freedom of speech and inssit to publish cartoons and people here who are making issue of nothing?
Oh no Adnan, no need to be so modest, you underestimate yourself.
