It’s the joke of the year. He is plundering the nation and asking others to take austerity measures. GOD! His English has gone nuts, as he needs to be reminded what does this word means in the dictionary.

And shame on all the others there in the meeting for approving him. They include:-

“Senators Muhammad Ali Durrani, Mrs Razina Alam Khan, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Prof Khurshid Ahmed and Mrs Rukhasna Zubairi.”

I want a Merc: Soomro

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro will buy a luxury Mercedes-Benz car from taxpayers’ money to mirror National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain (who got one last year), sources told Daily Times.

Sources said that Soomro on Tuesday sought a verbal approval from the Senate’s finance committee for the vehicle’s purchase. “The Senate chairman wanted to take committee members into confidence before submitting a formal proposal in this regard, but the issue could not be discussed due to time constraints,” they added.

Senate Secretary Raja Muhammad Amin launched the proposal in the committee meeting, saying that a Mercedes-Benz car was “required” for protocol. “The assembly purchased a Mercedes for the speaker last year and now the chairman needs one,” the secretary was quoted as saying. The vehicle for the NA speaker cost the national exchequer around Rs 11 million last year and drew a lot of criticism from within and outside the parliament.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat after the meeting said the committee unanimously approved the miscellaneous expenditures incurred to the secretariat. The committee also approved the budget estimates for the year 2006-07, the press release added.

The Senate chairman in his opening remarks lauded the performance of the committee. He called upon the committee members to opt for austerity measures while spending the public money. Besides the Senate chairman, the meeting was attended by Senators Muhammad Ali Durrani, Mrs Razina Alam Khan, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Prof Khurshid Ahmed and Mrs Rukhasna Zubairi.

1. Totally agree with the fact that corruption is an inbred characteristic of our nation, and can be found within everyone.

2. IMO Politicians make all these ‘loot maar’ tactics because of one fact. They will not be there to suffer the consequence. It’ll be their successors who have to bear that out.. and in their turn, they’ll put the blame one their predecessors while making loot-mars of their own.

3. Organizing a protest infront of Press Club??? Has anyone even visited press club lately?? there’s a protest going there EVERYDAY against something or the other… the last two times i was there, once it was ‘fishermen rights’ and the other was ‘harrasment against sunnis’!! Has anyone ever heard of them in mainstream media ?? my answer.. NO! Think of better ways to get that attention.. take a hint from ‘Dont Block the Blog’ group…

As for other sources, I heard this on FM89 Show as well which is aired in the afternoon & it was on May-06. The RJ literally humiliated Soomro and co with a statistical info regarding this Mercedes and a 90 million house etc. As for the Chaudhry Amir Hussain it did came in DAWN as well.

By the way who cares if he is getting new car ?? Atleast I dont , if I were then I would have started campaign “DONT LET HIM BUY NEW CAR” but I guess people are just too busy in getting media publicity. I am tired of all this attitude. Who is gonna read this blog and the people who are reading , they would know it by other means eventually. Go out and protest against dictator who has appointed 600 retired soldiers on civilian posts. I am sick of educated class of Pakistan who all think that dictatorship is better than democracy. They would never understand that in long run , its going to hurt. People today always say that that Pakistan did great in 60′s , even Korea used 5 years plan of Pakistan but they always forget when dictator Ayub got away , the result was Bangladesh, all the good things of 60′s gave us Bangladesh. Bravo ..
