Coming soon: Cars we love to hate :p

Okay, so my current favorites are the BMW 5series and the Hummer H2.

i adore the indus shape Toyota Corolla. that coupled with japanese assembly compared to local is oooomph!
other than that: the new Mitsubishi Pajero. Being a Jeep Wrangler TJ 1998 shape fan, i have yet to see a car that leaves me completely awestruck

there are hummers in karachi?? since when???

  12. umar (unregistered) on May 8th, 2006 @ 10:17 am

i would say BMW but since they are too expensive to afford I would go for Accord. And it’s a nightmare maintaining a BMW in Karachi.

    Honda Accord 2004/2005: Totally Classic

    Toyota Vigo: Best looking 4×4

Toyota Vitz (2 door in cherry red) is an absolute delight..

Its kind of weird not to find any Porsche lovers on MB.

  14. Kashif (unregistered) on May 8th, 2006 @ 12:22 pm

    Hummer H2 ….. Beamer 5 Series…. and Vitz

  15. Abdul Sami (unregistered) on May 8th, 2006 @ 12:29 pm

This craze will take us down for sure. Already we are facing $8.9 Billion Trade deficit in 9 months of current fiscal year due to this Import ONLY! 3 month s still to go!

  16. Kirna (unregistered) on May 8th, 2006 @ 1:33 pm

Hehe, so Umar, can you afford an Accord then? Please buy one soon, pleeeeaase :p lol

On other notes, I totally forgot to add Accord to the list. Not the ugly new wali, the 2004/2005 Acura wali. It’s ultimately classic.

And has anyone checked out the Acura Accord in teal color? I’ve only ever seen one of those, perhaps it was custom colored.. it was to-die-for!

    Mercedes S Class (new shape)
    Toyota Celica (new chape)

Man people have too much money in Pakistan.
The above listed cars are quite expensive and then add import duty to it. How much is the import duty anyway? plus i wonder if the owner of these cars paid the import duty?
anyway, its a shame that some people in our city can afford these cars while others cannot even afford a meal twice a day.

  21. mansoor (unregistered) on May 9th, 2006 @ 12:37 am

@ Faisal >> dont be a party pooper yaar! let ppl enjoy what they can…

@AL Khan >> WOW! A Bentley in karachi??!?! now dat’s CLASS!!

I just updated my list! now its got Accord and Bentley in it too. lol!!

  22. Razi (unregistered) on May 9th, 2006 @ 3:35 am

  25. Khurram Farooq (unregistered) on May 9th, 2006 @ 10:44 am

Since you guys are going all ga-ga over Bentley Continentals’, I gather y’all haven’t seen Mir Khalil ur Rehman’s progeny’s acquisition: A brand new Rolls Royce Phantom!

  26. Zag (unregistered) on May 9th, 2006 @ 11:18 am

Kirna: Therez no such thing as Acura wali Accord. The shape you are talking about is called Accord Euro, which was launched in Europe and Japan. The “nai wali” accord was also lauched at the same time as Accord Euro, however, it was for Middle East and American market.

  27. Faisal Siddiqui (unregistered) on May 9th, 2006 @ 12:01 pm

I think the Accord Kirna is talking about is Acura TSX released in North America, I saw that car in karachi with a Honda logo at the front.
    here is an accord

the escalade looks a little boxy… but guess it’s roomy inside

  32. redsnapper (unregistered) on May 10th, 2006 @ 2:12 am

Audi TT … It was class when it was released some years ago and …. a classic several years down the road.

    Pity never saw it here.

Popularity of Vitz here: “if-its-toyota-it-must-be-the-best-thing-that-happened-to-the-world” syndrome in Pakistan.

Justification for above: “hey-its-small-too-i-have-vitz-not-your-regular-suzuki” side of thinking.

    “Toita” sells. Unfortunately.

  33. redsnapper (unregistered) on May 10th, 2006 @ 2:14 am

correction: Read “Audi TT … It was class when it was released some years ago and …. will most likely be considered a classic several years down the road.”

  38. Usman (unregistered) on May 22nd, 2006 @ 3:46 am

Many people have stated effects these imported cars are having on the Pakistani economy, but the youth of Pakistan, who I used to be very proud of insist on talking about importing cars. I am truly disappointed.
