Mini Showroom on Zamzama

mini.gifDewan Motors has just recently opened a new showroom in place of the old Snoopy Ice Cream parlour sporting two Mini Coopers one in a hot looking blue and the other a red version. Rumors have it that they run a hefty sum of 30 lacs plus. Spare change anyone

don’t get me wrong but i thought that was a “girl’s car”, somewhat like the new beetle. do ppl feel that there is a market out there and that too big enough for female consumers to go out and buy something like this? just a thought!

    This is incredible…..

For 35-37 lacs, I would rather get myself into a Mercedes Kompressor or even a Toyota Landcruiser Prado that is a couple of years old.

    Just a thought….

AKA – matter of time, you’d see a lot of Mini’s roaming in the city..

I do not have 3 mil, but i do have a suggestion. We should have bicycle showrooms. The local government should think about building bike tracks…

Ouch, that’s over $60,000 dollars! Geez for that much money I’d rather pick up an M3.

This has nothing to do with cars, but did Snoopy move? And to where?

I am not sure how many of you have driven a Mini, but its by no means a girl car. It could be quite a speed demon if you have the Turbo Charged Mini S. Also, its out there in convertible so u can roam around the beach with the top down. Mini, is a BMW company now and the engines are a reflection of the BMW. Imagine a Khyber with VTi engine and you got a Mini.
At the same time, its over priced – in canada it retails between 22 and 27 thousand, with all the taxes and tarriff taken into account, it shouldnt exceed RS 2.0MM and maybe a few hundred thousand in margin as well.

the only thing that interests me in this conversation is:

    THEY CLOSED DOWN SNOOPY!!!?!?!?!!

i havent been in karachi for at least one year, i know its ice cream sucked over the past few years, but dunno…memories, sentimental value…the days before we were bombarded with mcDz, baskin robbins, movenpick, gelatto affair, kfc’s, what nots, dunkin donuts…the line…

    sniffles

What a waste of money. Imagine how many healthcare centers or schools the money can be used to open. Lately most of the discussion on this blog revolves around fancy cars, those in a position to afford them should also look around and think of those less fortunate. It is sad that very little is done by the ‘gifted’ ones to assist the poor.

I have to agree with Kumail, Mini’s are not girl cars at all. They are just fucking awesome. I would get one although I worry about it getting stuck on a speed bump somewhere

Mini’s are the cars that are needed in a city like Karachi (or New York) — think of how easy it will be to parallel park or park in some little nook and cranny in Saddar.

If u had a Mini, I very much doubt that u would take it to saddar. Anyway, Its a waste of money in a country like pakistan. Its expensive even with US standards. U buy a $30000 car that small when u money to throw. it probably costs double in pakistan.

I have been thinking about adding a Mini into my fleet for about a year now. Gotta admit its an expensive car but did anyone say its a girl’s car? If you dont see balls hanging from the back of a car doesnt mean its a girl’s car. Drive the S type and and you’ll know where you stand as a driver.

Though I agree with Danny that it would be absolute waste of money to buy that squirrel in Khi, PK. Stick with an economical car. Once you know what the crude price of oil will be touching this year, you wont make that mistake!

@unholysaint: lol… good point about the balls hanging out. point taken, though to confirm this, would probably need to observe more men driving the thing here in nyc

  17. UnholySaint (unregistered) on May 11th, 2006 @ 9:38 am

AKA, believe it or not but I have seen pickup trucks here in Texas where they hang balls at the back of it!

GIRLS CAR ? 0 to 100 in 5.6 sec the Mini Cooper S comes with a company fitted turbo and it competes with Holden 5.7. Its a Monster !! U need to sit in and feel the adrenalin. The tax is too high their in Pak, other wise the prize should vary withing 18lacs. You may take ” Your Girl ” on the seat !!
