Hair Emergency – Break Glass

A new set of teaser billboards have again swamped Karachi, loudly proclaiming (I apologize for not have taken a picture)

IN CASE OF HAIR EMERGENCY
BREAK GLASS

How the heck am I going to climb 30 feet up onto the billboard to break the sheet of metal? I fail to understand its significance. Is this an ad for a new Laser Clinic or a SunSilk ad? Any guesses? I also would like to know the name of the marketing agency who came up with this brilliant (pun intended) concept.

I would be the first to appreciate a good teaser campaign but sadly it makes little sense? Or maybe this is a hint for the “Return of the Shariff’s” – I let you speculate……

i heard CDGK wanted to remove all the billboard and bring in some new computerized system to control the number of billboard. isnt that true?

Saw it at the intersection of time medico – national stadium, where all the sunsilk ads are displayed….. so this must be it. After the lights camera action in the not so distant past, i guess this is their new marketing ploy..

    Wait a minute… I think they’re getting at a very far off idea….
    Very far off.

I havent seen the ad, but then again, i havent been home to karachi in two yrs. maybe someone can post a picture of this ad. from hearing about the speculations i would say that it is just a take on the whole “break glass and grab the hose pipe to turn out a fire”. hopefully that was already a given.

DONT U GUYS HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SHARE AND DISCUSS……….WHATEVER THEY ARE PUTTING UP ON BILLBOARDS, THEY GOT PAID FOR IT AND DEFINITELY SOMEBODY FROM SELLER HAS APPROVED THE IDEA (INSANITY AS PER OUR ‘KMB’ AUTHORS). SO LET IT BE AND BRING SOMETHING …….SO WE CAN SAY WOW.

ITS BEEN MORE THAN 5 YRS I M AWAY FROM KARACHI, BUT KMB HAS KEPT KARACHI ALIVE IN ME, BUT FOR LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS ITS REALLY BORING TO COME HERE AND SEE THESE FINIKY STUFF, LET START IGNORING THESE SO CALLED CREATIVE HEADS IDEAS (THOUGH EVERYBODY KNOWS THEY ARE MORE D.HEADS RATHER THAN CREATIVE)

probably some laser hair loss control thing, maybe some new technology afterall. but yes u r right, it has been a sunsilk board for a long time…maybe its one of their new (read stupid) campaigns.
And Agha, u fail to understand that these things make up khi. obviously theres more to the city than these, but recently these billboards have been mushrooming like anything in the city. they have been a hot topic at various forums……

Wont it be a great hair ad with our EX-Prime Minister with his before (with no hair, as PM) and after (with CASINO ROYALE style hair, non-PM)pictures posted on huge billboards across the city, with teh following slogan underneath:

What is it that MONEY cant buy heh???

Any other ideas for the slogan???

its definately a sunsilk ad. if u see closely, u can see sunsilk bottles in the shadows.
but its been there for so long that they take all the excitement out of it.

hey guys, i believe none of you have aesthetic sense alive. i think it is brilliant campaign and by design it should not make any sense as i believe it is just a teaser and real campaign has yet to come. But whoever it is, be shampoo or laser, good or bad, atleast has a talk value

Hey how does one post a picture on this? i got a pic of the hair emergency billboard and since we’ve been discussing it so thought id post the picture.

Personally I agree with Zahoor. I mean the idea of a teaser is to get people to talk about it. So yeah…i mean lets see what happens when the glass “breaks” but I definitely spent several minutes thinking about what it could be. I dont think our market is mature enough to accept abstract ideas.

Clearly all the blogs against this campaign show how everyone’s creative side is DEAD or was never alive to begin with.
Typical judgemental citizens – not giving a campaign a chance before it even starts!

I think we’re making a grave mistake here. The whole POINT of teaser campaigns is to get ppl to talk about them and to think about what lies in store. By starting off a blogging war here, you guys are all just falling for this insidious marketing trap.

I think you guys are really uncool to be sitting here and debating over a pointless teaser campaign.
    get a life

Abdul Qadoos. Youre one to talk. With a name like ABDUL QADOOS, I hope you HAVE a life.

It might be an ad for a damaged hair product – after all it says hair emergency.

  20. ahmed (unregistered) on May 24th, 2006 @ 9:52 am

haha i knew it its Sunsilk even if you look at the teaser closely it was shown in the background the shadow of sunsilk bottle and clearly see the faded sunsilk bottles. but the ad turns out to be good 3D. Good job done.

  21. mansoor (unregistered) on May 25th, 2006 @ 4:28 pm

Hats off to everyone who figured out it’s Sunsilk’s Ad…

They unvield it finally today (atleast i got 2 see it today).

I think this is related with sunsilk cause of the word “Hair”
cause everybody knows abt breaking the glass in case of FIRE.
