Bloggers.Pakistan Aggregator

BP_medium_banr.jpgBloggers.Pakistan (www.bloggers.pk) is Pakistan’s first (and currently) only blog aggregator. The site was developed by Omer Alvie and myself (Dr. Awab Alvi) to address the desperate need for a consolidated website where all Pakistani blogs can be featured.

Pakistani bloggers (or bloggers of Pakistani origin) can register their blog on our site for syndication. Visitors can view brief excerpts of the most current posts from Pakistani blogs listed on this site and then proceed to the specific blogs to read the entire post. The idea is to share an audience and help direct more traffic to Pakistani blogs worldwide, in order to promote the Pakistani perspective on social, cultural, political and global issues.

We have also incorporated some interesting new features to the site. All blogspot URL’s are automatically re-routed through pkblogs.com so the readers (in Pakistan) can continue the reading of their selected post without any hindrance. We have also added a ‘TAG IT!’ system which allows registered users the ability to categorize each posts as per their category of interest and later browse items using the tag-cloud.

Considering our recent launch (a little more than a week back), Bloggers.Pakistan has surprisingly built a large following, which continues to grow every day. Pakistani bloggers continue to register from all over the world including a good number of Karachi bloggers have also registered with BP to promote their blogs. We invite all Karachi bloggers who have not yet registered to do so immediately.

If you are not a blogger but enjoy reading blogs then bookmark BP because when you visit the site you will be delighted to see an extremely active view of the Pakistani Blogoshpere. Within less than two weeks, we have already collected 1600 posts which tends to grow at the present rate of 100 posts a day – we can guarantee any avid reader of blogs will not be disappointed with their visit to Bloggers.Pakistan.

Join us and help make Pakistani voices heard across the internet!

So TEETH tell me one thing.

Posts from these blogs are automatically posted or some moderator approves it?

YO YO – the aggregator posts them immediately and automatically with no administrator approval. A simple criteria for acceptance is to have actively blogged for a good two months before approval (this is just to get genuine bloggers).

Content is not our concern but we still retain a disclaimer to help control any offensive content which may appear.

Added to favorites and my husband has it as his home page (and he is not a reader). Congrats to both of you for the amazing effort and achievement. Dr. Alvi do you have a Dr. Nazia working at your clinic. She is a dear friend of mine?

I was going through some websites on the upcoming budget and I came accross the following website on the 1999 budget:

    http://www.jang.com.pk/thenews/vf/backissu/budget99-july99.htm

It seems like some sort of open forum on the budget. Please read through this and make sure more people read it.

I am not sure why, but some Indians seem to have commented on the Pakistani budget. It boils the blood a bit, but that it not what I want people to see. It just feels good to see how far Pakistan has come since 1999. All of us should thank god and the President for that.

As for pakistani bloggers registering themselves.. let me share why you should. Over the last one week.. i’ve registered a almost 500% increase in the number of visitor’s to my blog, from a mere average of 5 a day, im now reaching upto almost 50 a day! It feels good 2 post when you know ppl are reading!

Adnan: Good suggestion on routing only connection’s coming from pakistan through the pkblogs.com site.. it’ll reduce the load on pkblogs, and make it a better world for all of us.

Dr. Awab, ready to provide my services in this regard if required.

Mansoor – thanks for the awesome support – Your comments can actually be the “perfect” marketing campaign. I might take you up on your offer, I personally am a non-techie and actually remain in constant search for brilliant Pakistani minds to solve our day-to-day problems.

You have no idea how much interest this aggregator has generated, its been through the roof, and maintenance has been tough. But to say the least its been FUN to do something creative
