Hasi ka badshah

The Great Indian Laughter Challenge II is a contest being run on Star One in India, which is a showdown between various standup comedians.

From their website

The Great Indian Laughter Challenge II – Laughter Ka Doosra Dose show is a graduation call for comic talent in the country. Standing under the spotlight and performing to a discerning panel of judges and a houseful audience is a daunting task. The ordeal to make people laugh is the challenge in this show.

The judges will be the duo Shekhar Suman and Navjot Singh Sidhu but, this time a special celebrity guest will also join in the laughter riot! So anybody who can make our jury laugh and compete with thousands of other funny people? Who will be our next Hasi Ka Badshah?

The winner of this contest is Rauf Lala, a 40 year old comedian right here from Karachi. Rauf has defeated almost 20 other strong contestants and risen to the top ranks of comedians in both India and Pakistan to be crowned “Hasi Ka Badshah” ! Finishing at number four were also two funny karachites named Ali Hasan and Irfan Malik

Yayy Karachi! Its times like these when i wish there were more (any?) comedy clubs here in Karachi where we could go an enjoy their art! Bring on Black Fish and the Amatuer nite at Caffiene

cheap dialogues and tapoori style has hijacked our comedies stage-shows. Rauf lala is a product of karachi stage shows. Every1 must have watched ‘the bakra qiston pe’ just compare the number of audience at shows of those times probably late 80’s to those of todays which you never ever could dare to watch with your family.

Those old family stage shows of umar sharif are so much popular in india that they are played on the local cable networks.

Great Indian Laughter challenge was all but manipulated….the judge Shekar suman wanted to be aprt of Rauf lala team for international shows and thus invited Rauf lala to the shaow and made sure he wins.

Laughter is universal but what every culture and different mentalities….for indians the pakistani comedians were like Bakra kishto meih revisted…but what really tickeled the bones were performances by Fauzdar and Dr. Tushar
