Karachi’s very own twin towers

This info is just TOO good not to share! We’re gonna get our very own Twin Towers right here in Karachi on II Chundrigar Road. Heres a rendering of what the finished building would look like.

chundrigarpix8vw.jpgPretty impressive! No? Its planned to be completed by the end of 2009. This coupled with the new Mass Transit Corridor I will really revitalize the II Chundrigar area.

Taken from CPG Consultants:

CPG Consultants and Enshaa – NLC Developers Pte Ltd (Enshaa – NLC) have inked a contract on Thursday, 15 June, for the former to provide master planning and architectural design, as well as engineering, quantity surveying and interior design consultancy services, for a major mixed development project on Chundrigar Road, Karachi. This 6-million square feet development comprises hotels, residential, retail and offices. One of the towers will be an iconic building and will be the tallest buildings in Pakistan.

I usually have reservations about investing large amounts of money in buildings rather than productive projects like factories and such. But I think Karachi needs a facelift and it may be good for our psychology. So I hope this project does take off and is completed in time.

Which reminds me. Does anyone know whats up with the Port Tower project by KPT. And what about that building across from the Sheraton hotel?

Instead of being sarcastic one should think why on earth would ordinary karachite invest money on welfare of mankind.how many of us have done that. By going after the glamour some ppl do give atleast something which otherwise would have stayed in their pockets. as long as its being invested in karachi in whatever form it should be welcomed and we should alwayz remain optimistic even if neither of those buildings are constructed

I am working at the “current” tallest building in Pakistan and i must say, they really have to make an effort to maintain it. otherwise, the pans and cigarette butts have a way of apprearing and ruining the outlook.
Considering that this project was executed, apart from being a local enterprise, these projects are very much possible. we are about to witness a race of who will build the tallest.

@ Kashif: whatever makes you think its BLACK money?? its a legitimate investment proposal!

Abdul Sami: the race of being the tallest is one which goes around everywhere. Each new proposal for a skyscraper adds that up. We can only find that out once a tower has been completed. The port tower *should* be the tallest (if it gets completed). The IT Tower is the tallest ‘designed and signed’ tower.. while this one is still in the process of being ‘designed’. Dolmen city would’ve also competed, but the two 60 storey towers there have yet to leave the ground ;)

Has anyone noticed how the air pollution just eats away at the exteriors of most buildings?
