oonchi zameen, us pe oonchay makaan…

since practically every road in karachi is being subjected to at least three different projects and the cdgk couldn’t find any strip of tarmac wide enough to hold an excavator, the nazim has commissioned something new. karachi’s tallest building. its a building of firsts. the proposed structure will not only be the tallest in karachi, it will have solar panels that will supposedly generate 1.2 megawatts of electricity during the day time. and it will be home to over 10,000 call centres. 10,000! read more here. i know the cdgk is doing all it can to improve karachi’s infrastructure but sometimes i wonder if they bite off more than they can chew.

but anyways its a positive move. good going karachi!

I wonder if DAWN made a typo and meant to say 10,000 call center employees and not 10,000 call centers?.

10,000 call centers and providing jobs for only 40,000 people?? what? they want 4 ppl call centers?!

Anyway, a good move. However, the claim of being the countries tallest can be disputed…. as there are other 60 stories buildings on the way. Look out for the post “twin towers in karachi” pretty soon here…

    10000 call centers?….is it like wat a person/ center kinda thing?….
and wat for?….like y the hell wud u need 10000 call centers suddenly….did they just recently find out that karachi is a metropolis ….we love taking huge steps….wich lead to uselessness of half the resources applied.
Y dont they start off with an addition of 1000 call centers….and gradually increase the number with time…..

its not 10000 call centers, its capacity is to accomodate 10000 call center workers.

By the way, really shitty place to open such a big international project, first worng place for an expo center was gulshan, now this mega project is also being built in gulshan next to civic center.

No offence to the residents (i myself used to live there till a copule of years ago), but maybe they planners should have made planned it at a safer place where there are less MAULVIS burning down resturants (Pizza Hut, KFC, Agha Khan Lab ….)

10,000 Call centers is definately a typo. It wasnt the only typo..

“agreement for constructing the country’s tallest building at an estimated cost of around US$ 200 at a simple but impressive”

    US$ 200 what?
