Jashn-e-Azadi 7: Independence Day Resolutions
Every year, on the eve of January 1st, we setup our new year resolutions to better ourselves for the coming year.
This year, i propose we setup resolutions to better our selves as Pakistanis (no matter where we are) and to both make stronger our communities and our country!
This year, i resolve to be a better driver on the roads. To use my horn as minimum as possible, to give way to anyone coming up behind me, to stop at red lights, and if i get ticketed, i resolve to pay the fine the authorized way and not try to bribe the policeman!
All we need, is one resolution each.. the spillover effect theory would take care of the rest!
Long live Pakistan!
Excellent and practical resolution. Great way to start Mansoor.
Nice approach. Driving is one area we all need to work hard on. Instead of us behaving like those senseless people and following them in passing red lights etc. We should uphold the traffic rules and ethics.
I resolve to try and hold my temper at those strangers who dont behave the way they are expected to behave with others. E.g. The guard at BBQ Tonite but thats another story.
My resolution is that I will be an ambassador of goodwill for my country among the people I live with.
Nice one Mansoor……the responsibility starts from home….i hope the fellow readers will put in their best for the implementation of this act…..please please do follow the rules while u r driving….
Here is my resolution:
Who is better in speech than one who calls (people) to Allah, acts righteously, and says, “I am of those who bow in Islam”?
Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Return (Evil) with what is better: Then will he, between whom and you was hatred, become as he were your friend and intimate!
And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint – and whosoever attains this comes to possess great good fortune.
And if (at any time) an incitement to discord is made towards you by the Evil One, seek refuge in Allah. He is the One Who hears and knows all things.
(Quran 41:33-36)
good stuff by mansoor and others.
Sheepo very appropiate verse.Brilliant.I hope you won’t be declared a right winger after your post.
Right-Winger = Ashabul-Yameen (those who are on the right hand)
And according to the Quran (read Al-Ha’qa and Al-Waqia, for example) these are the people who will be successful in the hereafter :-D
So yes I would love to be a Right-Winger
using horn as minimum as possible ….. now thats a hard one for me…when ever a car infront of me stop
for no apprent reason the i bang my horn like crazy also during traffic jam i use horn alot and mostly it works (if no horn then i guess one should get a public address system fitted in his car coz people these days just don’t act properly unless some one “yells” at them real bad…
I won’t have fights on the road! and yes won’t race! its too dangerous
good going ppl!! i’ll pray we can keep to our own resolutions and make this a better world to live in.
salman: there may be some people who dont act properly.. however, i dont agree that they need to be yelled at.. no one stays on the road on their own free will.. and contrary to free will.. a traffic jam WILL NOT move faster if you keep your hand on the horn :P
