Infrastructure/No structure

Recently Shaukat Aziz made the following claim:

‘(T)he geo strategic location of Pakistan, availability of cheap skilled labour, world class infrastructure and reduced cost of doing business have made Pakistan a suitable location to be a regional hub for production and exports.’

The PM’s risible statement came a day before his railways minister, Sheikh Rashid, took a media contingent along to inspect the repair work being carried out on at Dhabjei; the original Ranjpatiani bridge was washed away, severing Karachi’s rail link to the rest of the country, and in subsequent rains the alternative route has also repeatedly been swept away.

Who is to blame: Mother nature or bungled administration?

Find out after the jump.

Of the original bridge: ‘Railways sources said that the century-old Ranpatiani bridge’s vulnerability has been ignored by the authorities. In 2003, the plaster around its pillars were destroyed by the rains. In 2004, the then divisional engineer made a plan in which the bridge was declared dangerous and Rs 480,000 were required for its repairs. But this proposal has since been lying with the chief engineer of bridges at the Lahore headquarters and has neither been approved nor rejected, sources said.

According to the engineering manual, before each monsoon season the bridges and tracks are repaired as part of a rain emergency plan. But this year, this work was not undertaken, sources said. Also, a federal government inspection committee said in 2004 and 2005 that the Ranpatiani desperately needed repairs and was a dangerous bridge.’

Of the alternative route: ‘all repairs were washed away with each bout of rains. Sources said the problem was that in the hurry the alternate tracks were not welded together as they usually are with fish plates.’

We Must learn a lesson from India’s Railways….However we and India both have got the same Railway infrastructure by the Britains inheritidely, India has been reconstructing and modernising its Railways for decades…..

Like Rajdhaani Express is the world’s only Five Star Train……Mumbai’s Local trains have the world’s best trains’ network…..Electronically connected and controlled by GPS….Its the safest train network in the world…..not even a single incident is on record that trains in Mumbai collided….even 6 million inhabitants of Mumbai travel through these trains daily!!!!

And we….even cannot repair our tracks…..We even cannot make our intercity network safe….Its a regretful reality that we dont have Local trains at the moment running….

I watched the regularly basis repairing of Local Mumbai tracks on NATGEO…..they are using state of art machines….sophisticated technologies….to allign the tracks and their fish plates….

We must learn,……only shouted hollow slogans cant make a country prosper….India is rather different from us….being afraid of our genius scientists….they are going far ahead of us…..

someone of u might say that this is because of their 1 billion population…..but this is a fact too that most of them are sincere to there homeland….

Geo called DIG Traffic, Falak Khursheed on thursday to inquire about traffic situation and management steps by his dept and he gave a classic reply, something like:

“Mairay Bhai, Barish Allah Mian ki taraf say hoti hay, traffic polic kya karay. Traffic tau us waqt manage hogi jab roads sahi hon”

Learn what is good from India & stop following bullshit coming from their side

By promoting Amitabh?By promoting their lame movies and dramas?

Sorry to say you didn’t teach any useful thing which you absorbed from India. But yes I can teach you one thing from Indians, tht you would never hear from any indian who is giving importance to a pious Pakistan over a pervert Indian.I call it patriotism which actually we lack in masses

    @MB:you use that a** word a lot in your posts.What’s the reason?Fetish?? =)

hahahha @ the comment above :P (a** word in bulk :P:P khekhekhehkehk)

Well…MB thanks for agreeing with me ….because lesser people agree with me in normal circumstances :|:| ….;)

So….Whats next guys?? we all r patriotic….energetic…..eager to do something better for Pakistan which has never been done yet!!! Whats everbody’s planning….what do you want to do to this system???

I have just one goal…..and that goal will make the country’s hundreds goals in the target!! That is EDUCATION!!!!

We may see how Japan and China has arisen in the World’s Technological scenario after hundreds of years of exploitation!!!

China is ONE year younger than us…..Japan still has ROYAL system…..
If someone has read Dr. Akbar S Ahmed’s PAKISTANI MUASHRA…then he might have known the history of CHARSI/AFEEMI chinese (charsi/Afeemi ka english word nahin pata :P)…But how had they changed themselves….we must know that!!!!

What help I can do brother if you make a meaning for your satisfaction. Can you quote my exact words which promote their lame movies & dramas? I seldom watch their movies & GOD save from their crap dramas.

Patriotism in practical shape is my way. But self criticism, that’s an important part of national growth if a nation, wants to move forward. Be it to any extant. If it’s realistic its okay

As for that a** word. It’s an accusation. Where is the proof? I believe it will be just a few times. I would like you to search and come up with number of times it’s used by me with their links.

@AMEEN: Yes education is the priority with emphasis on making humans rather than degree holders. Then its health & other social service related areas.

    Adnan :
Here is a link for you. Mr. DEE posted this link on other topic & i found it relevant. This is what we need to follow.

Dear MB was that not you who were preferring indians over pakistais by talking about their psuedo humbleness?

Can you quote my exact words which promote their lame movies & dramas?

you were preaching about promoting an Indian actor on an Independence day ad by making comments and a Post. While I disagree the idea of such promotion and demonstration of friendship due to ignorant nature of Indian govt towards pakistan and ignorant nature of many of Indians towards pakistan after mumbai blast.I dont know about you but I do face Indians on different online forums who dont waste time to blame us for every evil thing in India. In the light of such ignorance,I dont favor your idea of amitabh on our Ads.If things were OK on both sides then I had no issue.

As for that a** word. It’s an accusation. Where is the proof? I

take it easy dude I was kidding but yes its an offensive word and an author of the blog should refrain using such words.Anyway it was a joke and dont take it seriously. :)

i found it relevant. This is what we need to follow.

As long as we continue the blame game,we can’t achieve it.Imagine this is done by some party A of Sind. The opposition will whine about corruption or what not.We are far behind to reach on this level.
