Capri cinema

Last night i.e. Sunday I watched Pirates of the Caribbean at Capri cinema and it was a pretty disappointing experience. I hadn’t been to Capri for at least five years and it appeared as if Capri has undergone no renovation/upgradation in that time. The most disappointing aspects were the screen and the sound – basically the entire cinema experience – which were both plain bad. But there were other irritants, too: the air conditioning was switched on only towards the end of the movie, mosquitoes were everywhere, the floors were dirty, etc. Basically a big thumbs down.

The audience itself was predictably rowdy, but the real irritant were mobile phones. Capri would do well to remind people to switch off their mobiles or at least put them on silent. I sat next to a guy whose phone kept ringing and he made no attempt to put it on silent until I exasperatedly asked him to switch it off.

I have never been to Capri but Id say that this movie would make any cinema look crappy. I swear I have had one terrible experience with this movie in one of the nicest cinemas that i been to. So its just not the cinema. I just dont understand how it became such a big hit.

Part I was far better than the latest release. It’s full of crappy over-acting.

PPH: I seen the earlier pirates and that was awesome.. this was a bit over. pirates looking like aliens. effects were good. nicely made movie. a lot of money spent, but come on.. it was a pain. height of over-acting. I love depp/bloom and the lady as well a lot, still I couldnt make myself like it. It had a bit of humour, but mostly it was sheer pain. It was so annoying, I dont even have words. I regret to this day that I spent all that money on this silly movie .. terrible experience.

HAhah PPH & IFS :D The topic is Capri Cinema :P not PoC. Well I’ve last been to the Capri in 1994(for LAUGHING TIME of Charlie Chaplin), and then Capri was not different from the condition what you stated Cy. Well btw they had a lot of offers then for the visiters, they gave kids a lot of interesting things that belonged to the movie.

I had been to capri some 12 years back, I don’t remember what movie it was but I couldn’t understand a single word, the sound was poor and it used to get Loud when there was a Gun shot or an explosion and used to remain loud for a few extra seconds for the dialog as well…

Mostly people visit cinema to watch movies, just to watch, may be that is the reason their cell phones don’t bug them.

I watched “Speed” in Capri or Nishat or Star in 1995 and it was my first ever movie on big screen and since that day, I have been a fan of big screens. I also used to watch Pakistani movies back then like jeeva/intiha etc. Those were fine days. Here I go by myself because I watch 2 or 3 movies in one ticket at AMC (people know what I mean , my record is 4.5 movies in one ticket in 10 hours period) and most people can’t stand 2 movies in a row. I remember in those days cinemas were good , not bad but people were always crazy but that had its own charm. It’s no fun w/o any shouts. When movie gets going then there should be some loud comments too. Some of the comments were really nice (mind it, I used to in boys hostel so my definition could be different for “nice”) And I could safely say that no one ever shouted in peak moments.

By the way how much is the ticket now. It was like 30-45 Rs those days and Chaklala base had for 6 Rs. WTF these forces do with our money and then they complain they don’t get enough money.I would not let any chance go when I could stick these forces.

Yah Illusion, I had a wonderful day. I spend whole day today home. I cleaned my room , did my laundry , checked my postal mail, did some stock research, threw away all coke cans and paper plates, did not watch any movie today , did not check office mail at all and going to sleep by 10 pm. Finally I cleard my to do list :-) What else a man could want. I have always wished for 3 days week end. Have fun guys.

@PPH. I know exactly what you meant by AMC movie marathon. Ek ticket main 4 mazay waisiay my record is around 3 English/one Indian and also 2 Indian/3 English in one sitting but this was only possible ‘coz my lovely wifey is a movie maniac just like me :)
Nishaat & Capri…wow it’s been ages since I had gone there…my experience was ok as a kid plus coul’nt compared it to anything back then but I’m sure now I’ll feel the same as CY did. I’ve not seen the Pirates 2 yet but so far everyone said that the 2nd one is better.

AMC rocks! i went for a marathon just this saturday…Munna bhai 2..accepted, the quiet and the last part of Kabhi Alvida Na kehna…didn’t miss much… :D …and yes Pirates sucked…even with quality sound system it was hard to get the dialogues coz the accent was a bit too much!

and yes shouting/commenting during the movie is fun…i saw snakes on a plane at the local theater and the college crowd kept hissing at the slightest hint of suspense…followed by clapping on the grossiest of scenes…it was great!
I remember watching Titanic at Prince or Capri …during the time of the laser light fad! you can imagine the target!
