Ameena Saiyid, the MD of Oxford university press(OUP) has been doing a wonderful job of internationally promoting our local writers and publishing books highlighting our culture, art and political/social issues.

Today In Karachi Oxford University press Launched yet another outstanding book ” Beyond Honour” by Dr. Tahira S. Khan in the presence of Dr. Arifa Syed (Chairman, National commission of women), Bilquis Edhi and Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid as honourable guests.

The book is an study to look beyond the cultural notion of honour as the only motive behind gender based violence. This study examines honour related issues, personal experiences and present day stories of victims around the globe through the lens of historical academic research. The study took more then seven years to complete also many of the stories discussed in the book have come from the Bilquis Edhi Foundation where the author spent months talking to the victims of gender based violence.

The book is available at both the Oxford University Press Book shop, at Park Towers, Clifton and at Dolmen shopping Mall Tariq Road for a price of Rs.495 (-10%)
