Manora – Cape Monze: Sea Front Development

According to the paper today, the Ministry for Ports and Shipping has just signed MOUs with Dubai World and Emaar Properties for the development of Karachis shore lines from Manora to Cape Monze.

As part of the development plans, the KPT and all Military establishments will vacate the land and hand it over to the the companies for development. The development, so to speak, will comprise of establishing high rise hotels and apartment buildings in the areas.

Core question now is…how do the ordinary karachiites enjoy the only somewhat sane beach left??

ordinary karachiites?? the people in power at the upper echelons of govt. and big money keep promising they will be able to.. but lets see!

waise bhee, i always stick to the point, that such developments make the demand high for ancillary industries (food, transport, labour, cleaning services, entertainment etc) which eventually goes on to generate economic activity and eventually benefit the under-educated and/or poor people of our city. So overall, its a good effort

I think if the military establishment and the KPT will vacate that land, ordinary citizens will have more of a chance to visit and enjoy these places because right now, most of these areas are offlimits to “ordinary” citizens.

Besides, it’s about time the govt is finally paying attention to this area as this has the potential as a major tourist attraction once it’s developed.

this is sad news. im sorry. but it is. the natural beauty of these beaches will fall prey to commercial minting. sad sad sad. weep weep. i really could weep.

I am sure military must have leased the land and they would make money out of it. Do any one of you really think that military would vacate the land. They have land in all over Pakistan of worth more than trillions.

Bad news! at least for me…. I have always enjoyed the long stretched kacha road toward the villages there from Hawkes Bay… thats the beauty of Karachi Mushy man, pls don’t do it.. :(

But if they really plan like what Malaysia and Thailand have done then we can utilize the place for urban and rural stuff both…

yes but the untouched area beyond Paradise Point is beautiful and what makes it so very beautiful is the fact that there are hardly any people there and its so natural and pure. the sand and water are as described in books. there is no pollution. no noise.

    and then this.

    sad.

Party Boy – it seems you are desperate for an answer to that question considering the numerous comments around this blog. To answer your question sadly there are no offical dance clubs but private parties organized by indivduals take care of that urge if one needs it, or one could hang out at Fez Night at Sindh Club for a decent dance scene. Though I am not a Party Freak to best answer your question but maybe someone around here can shed a light on this issue at a later time
