Speed thrills…

…but kills. Saw this on a bill board years ago. And was reminded of it today. This speed thrill though is not related to driving fast. Was on Shahrah e Faisal when I saw two guys on rollers blades grabbing on to the back of the bus and going along for the ride at the bus’s speed. Admittedly my first thought was “What fun!” before the realization of how dangerous their predicament was, set in.

A rock, a bad patch in the road, a simple slipping, losing of their balance could have resulted in an accident. With such fast moving traffic had their hand slipped they would have automatically slowed down and hit by the car coming from behind them.

Thrill seeking is an individual’s choice but the necessary security measures is their duty. Not only were they at risk but they were putting other people in danger too. Safety first is a rule that we never seem to learn.

About those stupid kids – darwinism prevails…

About fast driving, go live your slow boring life. I bet my 10 seconds of 220km/hr drive is worth than a few years of some boring life…

@Raja Khan: I dont know about this movie you are referring to, but ive been seeing rollerbladers for quite a while now in Karachi…and if bike riders can hold a bus to give them some speed…then why are rollerbladers accused of beig wannabes??

people can use their imaginiation too!

i have seen the same.. guys selling mountain dew cans having rollers blades and protection kit grabbing on to the back of the buses or any other vehicle to move from one signal to another… although they have protective pads on but still the roads here are too bumpy that accidents can happen…

Not only people on blades (roller) do this stupidity but people on bikes are not far behind. One of my colleagues labelled bikers as ‘suicide bombers’ because when they cut and dodge between other vehicles, it seems that they are on a kamikazi mission.
