Roads under repair…

For the past few days ive been hearing that our great city Nazim, Mr. Mustafa Kamal, has ordered that the repair of all damaged roads be completed by October 2, 2006, in order to facilitate higher traffic flows in Ramadan.

It is also reported that the opening up of all major bridges (to what ever extent possible of they are under construction) has also been ordered.

So far I have seen the road turning towards Karsaz Road from Dalmia being carpeted and many sections of the road from Johar More to Jauhar Chowrangi being repaired.

Oh, and last week, midday at 2 pm, they started reparing holes near the 2 talwar intersection and completed by 6.

Any roads in your area under some urgent form of repair? please post here and let us know.
Disclaimer: I have no confirmation of any such order, but have heard a few radio broadcasters discussing this.

The FTC turning towards Kalapul has been repaired, and a minor traffic jam has been eleviated.

I have spotted some other pots being filled aswell, they are doing a pretty good job as far as the pace is concerned, time(and rain) will tell about the quality.

    Dear Nazim Saheb,

Through this forum I would like to draw your attention for the road markings.

While you have promised in news conferences with media to the people of Karachi to open the thorough-fare at major locations after repairs, you may also emphasize on the lane / road markings on the NEW and UNDER REPAIR roads so that there is some traffic sense which educated class of road users can adhere to.

In a picture at the page 18 of paper edition of The DAWN of 27 Sept 2006 the One track of Nazimabad underpass which is about to be opened any day is without lane markings, and entrance of the underpass does not have any marker indicator for directions and height clearance.

Also the track opened at Shah Rae Pakistan is without any road markings (picture can be accessed on web edition of the DAWN at http://www.dawn.com/2006/09/27/local5.htm

If attention is not paid to such markings and warnings at this stage, we all can believe that it would go unattended and project will be announced completed inaugurated by mr. so & so minister for so & so Govt of Sindh. The person inaugurating would be least bothered about as to what has been completed or left unattended for the next govt to take as MAJOR Road marking project requiring World bank funding for year 2025 mega Karachi plan.

Allah Save Karachi and Give MORE of Wisdom to Honorable Nazim Mustafa Kamal

    sincerely best regards

    Dear all,
Mentioning here is useless. Also road repairs are very very weak. I daily use road from banaras to valika mill and now there are holes in carpeting work. In north nazimabad near Noorjehan police station there is a NALA under construction since last eight months. I daily pass by and always see it in same state since last 6 months. Before they were working but now you can’t see anyone and diversion is worst. see it by yourself. I found North Nazimabad and Site towns the worst ones in karachi.
