And so I am back at work, after a full week of vacation. Can’t get any better than that. But I was surprised to see empty streets this morning. Turns out people are still under Eid hangover. C’mon guys, don’t you get bored of sitting at home for so many days?

no network coverage
message not sent
system busy
message failed
All of this will happen tomorrow so Eid Mubarak before the networks get jammed.
This year I havent faced problems with my cellular service provider except for the occasional hiccup but the above text message which I received a day before eid pretty much sums up last year’s network jam which led to no calls or text messages going through on chand raat and the first day of eid.
If you’ve faced these problems this eid, share your stories.

Last night was something else; stopped by forum for a bit to see the shows, the music and of course the Henna. The ladies all had to get theirs done in seperate way. There was a great mood that night, everyone out feeling good about the end of a month of fasting. It was really nice to see such spirit and fun coming from this night.

Ripped open from end to end…
Hollow promises by the leaders of the city…
Steps taken by CDGK for media coverage…
The end result? Even more suffering for us poor souls.
Hot off the presses is the latest in bung-ups by the administration.
Just three days after the opening of one track of the Liaquatabad underpass, a portion of it caved in on Tuesday apparently due to the substandard material used in the construction.
Who’s to blame this time? The CDGK? The contractor? Weather? God?? I dont know, but when i read the paper this morning, i couldnt help but feel deeply saddened by it, yet it was something i was waiting for. Like you would feel for a terminal patient. Is that what karachi has become? A terminal patient at the hands of its leaders?

Metro One, a new channel solely for the city Karachi, started it’s test transition yesterday. The promo of the channel is really horrible and the road show they were showing last night was completely unedited but still having a channel which promises to air traffic updates, crime reports, breaking news and social issues of Karachi will sure be great. Like every new channel they will hopefully improve with time but I just hope they don’t side with some political party ending up with a hypocritical face.

Mere pyaray behno aur bhaiyon, ap sab logo ko bohat bohat eid mubarak ho. khush raho. Phalo, phoolo, mazay karo.
“Ae Allah, Karachi par apna khaas rehmo-karam kar, aur iss shehar ko bohat tarraqqi day aur iss kay saray masaaill ka hal nikaal day. Aur Karachi kay rehnay walon ko apnay hifz-o-Amaan mein rakh, aur Karachi ki har buraayee, bimari aur khatray say mehfooz rakh. Ae Allah, hum Teri hi ibadat kartay hain, aur tujh say panaah mangtay hain. Karachi kay rehnay walon ko naikk rasta dikha, seedha raasta. Ya Allah, yahan kay shehrion mein yukk-jehhti paida kar. Iss shehr ki roshnian hamesha qaimm rakhna aur iss ko burayyee kay har shar say paak kar day aur iss shehar ko yahan kay shehrion kay liye jannat bana day.”
Amin.
God Bless you all in all ways possible.
Eid Mubarak once again.
I love it when kids say it “Eid Bubarak”
PS. Dont be lazy guys, go out meet people, give stuff to poor. Eat well. Watch the match, but dont be lazy at home.
