Weekend Review: November 5, 2006
Another week gone by and here are the most popular posts from last week.
Olden days – I recall the good old days of Karachi, and then anathema adds to the list. Everyone feels nostalgic.
its a divorce lawyer market – Xill-e-Ilahi highlights the increasing number of divorce cases and everyone starts talking against and in favour of Islam and women rights and what not.
Teen Talwar – Unaiza posts a picture of the monument in Clifton and wonders if the message it conveys still hold. The crowd discusses the exact interpretation of the words and their meaning. It’s always fascinating to see the comments section taking an entirely different course.
Musical Nights, Karchiite culture – Unaiza wonders whether it is becoming a norm to have mini music concerts as part of wedding celebrations. Once again, the crowd goes crazy and goes back and forth justifying and condemning this act
Excellent Decision – MB supports the decision of banning Shoab Akhter from playing cricket. The readers make predictions about him being back in action and performance of Pakistan in the world cup.

quite an eventful week with Unaiza opening the flood-gates and pointing towards some unobserved issues and some unseen places. over all a good week in respect to the posts and discussion comments on them. keep it up karachiites!
..he..he..Umar, I thought that this week’s Weekend Review would only be about your fianc√©’s posts.:-))
Who’s the fiance??
I thought this was the week when KMB was taken over by the ‘energizer bunny’ and sold its soul to become a plog instead of a blog.
But please, please ,can someone clarify if Umar really does have a fiancé or was this just a typo?
its true. the energizer bunn who drove us insane is the owner’s fiance.
I just found this blog. Awesome. Is this just a strange week or are the arguments always so shocking? i mean “teen talwar”
@NYC: Welcome to this blog/coments. My personal appologies to you for the loose comments on “Teen Talwar”. I wish it was a different experience for you.
Moreover, I was just surfing the metblogs and found out that top comments are from Karachi. here is the list.

NO NYC this is prolly very first time. I have been on this site for more than an year and I never witnessed any such demonstration of vulgar language. Yes there are many heated debates on this forum and many including me have taken part in such debates.
Interesting thing was that the title “Teen Talwar” was very accurate for the entry as three people with swords were battling/swearing for their survival. Out of three two belong to educated class and knowledgeable [as they had claimed] and they were not sounding different that the other topori guy/girl while responding him/her.
The shitty part of the post was that my name was dragged for no reasons by bringing up false accusations and baseless claims. One of the lady who is mashAllah 4 or 5 years elder than me went too far to express her hatred against me that she started criticizing my language skills because the other guy was writing in Urdu. That means, anyone visitor on this forum who talks crap and in urdu would be actually me; that is I am alqaeda of this forum now.
Commenting about my language skills, well I believe that an unarmed but skilled soldier is better than highly equipped unskilled soldier in a battle field. At least I am well aware of my limitations and still can produce some better stuff than swearing on my own website that visitors like Adil Najam [who was referred] is/was a regular visitor of my blog and do encourage me on and off the site via emails. I think Adil was not aware of my limitations and skills that he still asked me to make one of initial posts on his site. Similarly owner of chowrangi.com and few guys from Wikipedia and other media resources were not aware of my writing that they still contacted me and referred me few of my posts on their media sites. Look if one who is blessed with good language and still just use obscene language then he/she shouldn’t blame others for his/her mental infertility.
I believe that whoever swears other parents regardless of who starts first shouldn’t be allowed to make comment on this forum. I hope it wouldn’t happen again.

is it only me or….
NYC, this is very first time in last one year and as the title suggested, it was the battle between three swords in the field of “galis”. Criticizing others language skills and using their own for swearing is certainly a symptom of mental infertility.
Adnan, don’t worry, all those offence comments have been deleted…..
Next time, such comments will be deleted immediately after being posted.
I thought the initial arguments were great and i am sorry they were ruined by some hot headed guy who i guess really hit some buttons for those girls. Girls apparently sound just like boys when they are mad…hehehhehe…note to self.
Its a great idea to delete obscene comments and i suggest you post some rules for instance if 4 letter words by themselves are banned then let people know.
Lastly i am pretty liberal myself but i dont think speaking english or urdu should win any debates or be a reason for criticism.
hey adnan,
I dont generally find your posts to have much intellectual merit but you are pretty funny (i quoted you below) i mean that sincerely.
I dont think you or anyone else should feel unarmed or unskilled. Its not a poetry site.
Also neither me nor saima swore at anyone unprovoked but I remember you using the sh.t word in your attack on yahya when he had never sworn at you. So please try to be consistent on your stance against obscenity.
I believe in decent argument, but if someone wants to make it a mud slinging match then they should know what to expect.

i’m going to lock this thread as well because it seems to be going in the same direction. It’s better to nip the evil in the bud.
