One of the tasks that I find traffic police doing very efficiently is picking up the cars parked in “No Parking” area. Especially in Saddar.
I wonder what benefit do these “tullas” get, which makes them so efficient in carrying the task.

its a menace at the makki masjib / furniture market area b/w saddar and garden…. in 6 weeks visit to karachi i got towed 2 times!!!

every traffic picket in every area gets the weekly
“target” from the highups in the department that they have to achieve by hooks or crooks and to achieve that they’ll tow your cars(ruin their bumpers) ,they’ll challan you for stupid reasons and
what not… One more interesting observation and tip that i would like to share… every crowded area has a parking wala(although charged parking is abolished BUT in each area few pathan guys are running charged parking setup and they have to pay hefty amounts each month to traffic department for that ) if you have understanding with them and you visit the area daily like most shopkeepers in busy markets pay them a monthly fee and they’ll “reserve parking” for you and traffic cops won’t touch these vehicles either….
I think its a good system..
cars should be towed
tickets should be given as much as possible
goto isb and you’ll realise how much ppl follow rules now..
its the same way all over the world, we are just not used to it…
watever the motive they have behind doing it.. they should be doing it cause its theree freaking job..
the pathan drivers are a good thing.. you give em your car and for Rs. 20 they’ll park it in a good spot and will keep an eye on your car too.. wat else do you want ??
$5 is the minimum parking you pay and u find a parking spot and you walk back..
wat ur gettin for 20 rupees is luxury my friends.. and yes the permanent ones.. like i have this team outside my office they take Rs. 300 per month.. they park and wash the car everyday

No where in civilised world, cars are “dragged” away from No Parking zones.
When it is dragged away, the damage is to your account, as well as the Rs. 100 ticket Plus no receipt of Rs. 200 truck charges . Altogether a no parking dent is for minimum 300 sometimes 500 bucks depending upon the claimant of car (owner or employed driver) “how high you can prove to be connected” thats for free.
The menace is rooted due to lack of parking space inside the building complexes. Name any street in the city business district which is not encroached upon by the “safai wala” who accomodate you for parking & cleaning of car. They LEARN to drive on YOUR car, and get paid for that JOB.
Remedy – Solution – ‘NONE’

By the way same thing happened to me just a weak ago when I parked my car outside furniture market area, when I came back I thought someone stole my car but at the parking lot there was a car parked inside was a strange looking person waiting for me and called me and said your car has been lifted and told me the direction where to get it.
I am pretty sure he was TULLA in plain dress and to expedite the process waiting for the car owners to tell them the directions! I had to bribe Rs. 300 to rescue my car and while I was standing there, they were bringing cars minute by minute!!! I think they must be earning a lot!
