Sharae Faisal being shut down

Rumours have it that SF is being shut down from 4 pm onwards until 10 pm to ensure smooth passage of VIPs. I hope they are just rumours, but you can expect anything in the name of security. I won’t be surprised if they actually shut down the road for 6 hours.

I suggest you take off from work now and go home as fast as you can, unless you don’t mind being stuck at work (or on the roads) till late night.

And this is the first day of IDEAS 2006.

    @Umar Zaman,

    I think you meant to write “extra cautious about security”.

    This sucks man. NOT even Ambulances!! why??? where on earth even ambulances are banned for sake of *healthy* VIPs? does it happen in US,UK or anywhere else in the world?

    They are sure nuts. By saying ‘shahrah-e-faisal band hay, alternative rasta use karain’ means like ‘KESC is off, alternate source use karain’-:(:(

    I dont know what will be my way home, since I cross whole shahrah-e-faisal to reach home daily.

    @ ADNAN SIDDIQI

    You have a right to complaint about it, but in every city of the world, closure of road happens for VVIP movements. As fas as ambulances concerns, you never know there are suicide bombers in the form of them. And the road closure is also happening becasue we citizens of karachi, dont follow a single rule of traffic there, and always have complaints about the traffic congessions. I might sound negative to many of you but its reality and we have to accept it. We have to think about now otherwise it gonna be so late.

    Adnan Shaikh, if that is the case then they should fire missiles to all apartments in surroundings, specially Hasan Square.

    Can anybody tell me what actually happened tonight? I left SF very early an the tv channels are not reporting any traffic jams. Are they afraid of the army or what?

    @ Mr. Siddique,

    Why can’t you ever talk rationally instead of ranting and whinning non stop!?

    Turab,sitting thousands of miles away from the city in a room with a WiFI connection and commenting about a situation which you are not experiencng is a sign of rationality or stupidity?

    Adnan, stupidity has no geographic distribution. People can live wherever they want and still make valid points or stupid points.
    You want a medal or something for living in Karachi? You think that is a great debate closer? It seems to be a fond punchline of yours which is frankly getting old.
    BTW It wasnt so long ago that I did live in Karachi and i havent turned into another person just b/c i dont live there today.
