Recap – 7 Gifts from Karachi

Last week, most cities across the metroblogging network participated in a network-wide series in which each city shared 7 entities from that city that could be regarded as gifts. We also actively participated in this motion and came up with 7 gifts from Karachi. For those of you who missed the series, here is a recap.

Gift 7: Pakola Ice Cream Soda
Gift 6: W-11 The Bus
Gift 5: Shopping in Saddar
Gift 4: Mohatta Palace
Gift 3: Nihari
Gift 2: Habib Bank Plaza
Gift 1: Abdul Sattar Edhi

Which one did you enjoy the most? My favorite is Nihari. I actually had some nihari after reading about it.

Nehari is not unique to Karachi, you can find it in other cities as well ( nor even its origin goes back to Karachi ) though everybody loves it :)

I believe Burns road is the gift!

Generally speaking, they were nice picks. Though I think the lamest was Habib Bank Plaza. May be it has meant a lot to us over the years. But we’re talking about giving a gift to the world. And our dear Habib Bank Plaza does not offer anything special or unique. To the world, its just another grey medium-rise building. May be something more authentic like Students’ Biryani or Hakeem Saeed’s phenomenal philanthropy would have been a better choice.

iam not sure if iam allowed to speak my heart out here ….but if iam i’d say that to me the whole KARACHI is a gift that i don’t really deserve……THANKYOU DEAR LORD…!

Btw,a friend(not a lawyer..) told me that if they track you down all you have to do is delete your account and junk your computer….unless ofcourse,if you are a US senator/congressman…

we really cheated with our nihari gift..the others were great although Sadequains phenomenal works of art were somehow overlooked.

@Ash: i have the same feeling, Nihari is a Dehlvi dish. We have many things which are so popular here but don’t belong to karachi, so should we put them as a gift too??
