Bakra Peedi Updates

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2006/12/Image009%281%29-thumb.jpg

The Peedi is full of animals. Groups of boys coming to check out the prices creating an artificial demand. Prices have sky rocketed. Farm owners have learned the rules of the game. They have brought top notch maal. I have heard of sales of 4-6 Million rs worth of a cow. Not just one several of them. These are exciting times (islamic or unislamic).. I am fond of good looking cows (A Grade Chamra) .. so yeah there are plenty of those this time of the year.

Some FarmWalas have named their best looking cows. Names like Reema, ShehanShah, Neeli.. (their inspiration coming from Lollywood).

So I think all of you should go have a visit. I don’t know of any other country in the world where Bakra Eid is celebrated with such enthusiasm (celebrated used for qurbanii, grill me for this now).. The biggest bakra peedi is located on the Super Highway (correct me if it is national highway, I always confuse between the two)..

Try visiting the Lasania Cattle Farm..

PS: My brothers have done their shopping at the Bilal Colony Baara Colony (near Chamra Chowk Industrial Area 7/A) .. got a good deal. Will post the pictures as soon as I take them …

    “sales of 4-6 Million rs”
Alas, Eid has turned into what walmart has done to Christmas.

Going out and picking the best possible animal out of the crowd and then getting the best possible bargain…. truly requires some great effort… looking forward to a happy baqra eid…….besides mustafa kamal promised to dispose off offals as quickly off the roads and sight ….so city govt to be tested again..!!

Rs 25 as parking charges per car…

those white ones shown in the pic above would be priced around 70 to 100 thousand Rs each…

you won’t be able to find a healthy bakra for less then 20-25 K

now one can’t expect the common men to afford that kinda exorbitant prices..

i just pray that the sellers get a bad response and prices in animal market goes down drastically benefiting common public coz if the current prices prevailed then i can easily predict there won’t be much buying this year….

4-6 Million Rs for a single cow is lil bit exaggeration but those cattle farms that u named do get some stock brokers and other filthy rich customers who use their “hard earned” money to affect the market in a negative way and pay unreasonable prices …

Prices will come down. They are always high because only the most Enthusiastic buy the animals so early. So yeah they will come down. I expect a 20-30 percent drop.

    D0Ctor, its not an exaggeration.

believe me i have some close family members in dairy and cattle farming business and Rs 4 million for a single cow is simply unthinkable no matter how fat how beautiful it must be … but maybe you’re right some one might have paid those millions… maybe they’ve got lots and lots of black money to spend…
