Kowloon For Chinese

Kowloon is an old Chinese restaurant, I have been visiting this place since I was a kid, around fifteen years back this place served the best Chinese food in Karachi and my visit to this restaurant a few days back proved that nothing besides the pricing in the menu has changed in so many years.

We ordered Crab corn soup which was just perfect with lots of crab meat, well-done, fresh and I found not a single trace of shells. Besides the yummiest Crab corn soup, Prawns in hot sauce are one of their specialty, the dish is fantastic and tastes even better with prawn fried rice. And while you are there you should also try their Chicken in ginger sauce, sweet and sour chicken and beef with chilies, all my favorites.

Besides excellent food the interiors are beautifully decorated in rich Chinese cultural theme, with paintings and lanterns in red, dim lights and Chinese style chairs. The seating arrangement is great but if you want a table instantly you have to be at the place before eight thirty or there is a fair chance that you might have to wait for about 15 minutes or even more to get seated but trust me the food served is worth all the waiting.

So next time when you feel like having Chinese, and you happen to be around Tariq Road, do try this place. If you are entering main Tariq Road from Bahadurabad go straight and turn left from the first signal you get on this road, you will find Kowloon on your left, just after Silver spoon.

kowloon–definitely one of the best chinese restaurants in town still.

jamash there’s another really good chinese restaurant in one of the confusing lanes behind tariq road opposite “red dragon” or “red something”—do you remember its name?

I would personally prefer Tung Nan over Kowloon…more so due to the fact that my Grandfather used to take me there frequently. I guess that is a huge Bias right there :)

Karachi had a few other good Chinese restaurants back in the days….there was Hakka in front of the Quaid’s mazar and then on Victoria Road (Abdulla Haroon Road) was a place which I believe was called Hong Kong (not sure). There was another one close to the passport office but I don’t recall the name.

It is so true that Kowloon is an amazing restaurant, I think it has the best chinese food in whole of Karachi. The owner and the staff has great customer service. I eat there nearly every week. Speaking about Tung Nan I think the food sucks thats why the restaurant closed down. I am not being Bias about Kowloon, I have been to both places I always preferred Kowloon. The decoration and atmosphere is so nice it makes you feel you are in a true and beautiful chinese restaurant.
