The “Cold” Karachi

1.JPG
Today, early in the morning while browsing the browser Status Bar popped up latest Karachi weather & I was amazed to read the stats, specially that cute Fog icon. Karachiites are experiencing a freezing experience these days, which is unprecedented. It’s really cold outside believe me. Looks like Canadian Karachiites are missing their homeland, lolz

The temperature has gone to 9 (centigrade scale) according to yahoo, though the browser bar was showing 50F (10C) by accuweather & at the time of making post it was 54F. I wonder will it ever get under 5C, as it has touched -1 in Lahore, some one told me yesterday. This weeks weather is here & also check this detail report here.

well we’re not comparing karachi’s weather with the rest of the world… its just not an every day event the weather in karachi drops to single digit… thats what makes it “freezing” for karachiites..

  10. mansoor (unregistered) on January 8th, 2007 @ 12:43 pm

single digits!! thought something was very wrong here :S need to get out the blankets afterall :p

I request Allah Mian to also put a limit of 30C on high temperatures in the summer. Then it will to totally awsome.

I was thinking about homeless ppl and drugs addicts (heroinchy) who are homeless, windchill would be horrible for them. (becharay).

10C or 50F in January is a blessing spring like weather for us Chicagoans. Karachites stop complaining and enjoy some winter munchies while you can ‘coz that scorching heat will be back before you know it.
    peace
    Kaash

freezing in karachi meanwhile it was 60 c in nyc. did anyone see “an inconveniant truth?”

  15. anon_again (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 12:16 am

horrible whether out in midtown manhattan… been raining since last night… not exactly the ideal 60 f … eh Ash?

  16. KhiTorPit (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 1:28 am

Here in Pittsburgh, its 2 C, and feels like -4, but still better then what it use to be normally in Jan.
@Ash 60 in nyc would be F not C. (NewYork hai ya Multan hai ?)

@Kaash, For Khi +8 is also too much as ppl dont have heaters at home and dont wear the kinds of clothes we wear here, so no need to compare the weather.

    Freezing in Utah.

Ash, I saw that .. it was boring.

Logo mazay karo Karachi mein. I miss last winter, I had loads of fun.

Khitorpit, even multan itna garam nahi hota.. lol 60 C .. dayem.

This is a karachite from Toronto. I have been visiting regularly during december/january and must say that the weather is changing for sure. For alot of people in karachi, it can be rather painful since alot of hourses are not designed with cold weather in mind.

Here locally, the change is the same. Throughout the past many weeks, the weather has been around 5-8 degrees (that is above zero, not under)

    Global warming is here :-)

  19. ash (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 2:35 am

using the multan gold standard it probably was 60f ….:)…
I actually love the rain, reminds me of the thrill of being a kid again, – call me crazy.
Gore is boring beyond all belief but the concepts were great (the ones i didnt sleep through)

  20. turab (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 3:14 am

Ash, Gore was absolutely brilliant! He did an excellent job of raising the issues and concerns which are mostly ignored or slept through……..

Its just a matter of time …….. global warming

  21. Razi (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 3:44 am

Interesting to learn that Karachi is colder than New York the last few days.

  22. Poo Poo head (unregistered) on January 9th, 2007 @ 8:26 am

Actually I do not care for global warming nor pollution at all. Do what ever you want. The science and technology is growing so fast that in next 30 years, scientists would find some solution. Gore’s film is for scientists to remind them what they are suppsoed to do not and it is not for us. Chill till we get some solution.
