Art exhibitions in Karachi.

Has anyone noticed how many art exhibitions keep happening in the city? Was reading Dawn today and came across four different exhibitions. What I also realized was that Dawn makes it a point to write about them. Maybe it’s because I noticed this in the past few months but with Jamash posting about different exhibitions held in the city as well, it’s become apparent that Art exhibitions in particular and any other kind of creative activity in general has slowly emerged as an integral part of our city.

Art is more of an undercurrent of Karachi. Never too obvious, but visibly there if we take the time to slow down and look. The four exhibitions Dawn printed about are;

Photography exhibition by Haider Abbas Jaffery

Exhibition of miniature paintings by Waseem Ahmed

Caligraphy show by Sarosh Hamid

Exhibition at Alliance of Didier Randot `Travels in Europe’

How many of us go to these Art Exhibitions?

    No. DAILY TIMES makes it a point to cover them and review the exhibits. Dawn makes it a point to print pre-issued press releases.
