It is over 55 years for Post office services of Pakistan, and - over 5 years Plus since the last change of Chief postamaster of Pakistan.

Like all other head of DEPTS - he came in with high spirit, asked Federal Govt for extra funds, spend that for cosmetics of new uniforms, buildings, computers and on devising / revamping the system, BUT - HE UTTERLY failed to address the greivences of people who matter. HIS Very OWN employees -

No system worx if the team involved is not happy - It is also true that in an organization, Everybody can not be happy however, Team of individuals interacting with grass root level shall be accomodated to the best. Not the one who put on Nice Attire, and have an "APPOINMENTS TODAY FOLDER" ready by the PA., arrives at desk 10.30 leave for home at 3.30.

Managing running a MAIL Service is 24/7 Job. Section supervisors worx in shifts. The CEO & COO is available as & when needed. Live example is TCS which is 100% Pakistan Based International company.

Like zainub's incident it has happened with our house watchman who use our address for money orders and personal mails, it has happened number of times his envelops come back very next day by postman giving him 'yar tayra khat aya hai'. he lost his money sent via money order, never to be recovered 2 times.

So we managed to print several envelops for him with BOLD TO & FROM address and yet again - Postman came up in less then 30 hours.

The poor fellow have started sending his letters by BUS service. which delivers in less then 3 days to area as far as Bajur agency.

Regretfully I have lost faith in flag ship services sector, with an opportunity I always avoid the govt owned services as much as I can, no matter how high they talk or claim, but there is no one responsible accountable in case of a mishap.

Emirates Airline sorted my missing luggage issue in less the 45 days.

Since over 7 months - PIA is in "we are tracing" mode for my missing luggage on 777 flight from JFK to Karachi. That was last time i felt high for the flag and jumped on PIA. - In right state of mind, i would ensure that i don't get sting again.

- let us think about those who have only "DAK KHANA as their address" not people like us who are urbanised.

Dakkhana & Dakya a very highly respectable place and person, in remote places POST MASTER is still a person who is WISE, in our country but he have his own greivences for the system he worx for.

Dal Badin is very important station of Pakistan with respect to CHAGHI, and I know personally the post master of that station. A nice guy but sick of system he worx for.

- Allah be praised, Allah bless our country.

just to add my words ...

Is it not a dillema that even goevernmet departments or institutes are not using pakistan post for delivery of their letters. I had an experiance with Steel Mill which uses a private courier service for the delivery of their posts.

Once a person from OCS told me that TCS gives 51% surity, OCS gives 50% surity while PAKISTAN POST gives only 10% surity for delivering of your letters and other things.

Zainub: so you are telling me that your letter got from Bath Island post office to the Gulshan address within 24 hours ?? thats pretty impressive if you ask me , aside from the small little matter of delivering the letter to the wrong address ..which i am pretty sure they are working on.

much love all

All i know abt pakistan post is that .. i have sent many parcels to karachi pakistan from canada using regular post .. And it was recieved there within 2 weeks.. Hello.. even in canada if you want to domestic mails.. it take 5 business days.

Changes do come.. but they dont come in a flash.. We pakistanis criticize more rather than apprciating things. So what if some one is rude with you.. atleast you can polite with them, and that is what Hadees Nabvi too.

You'll not find a posting service as unique as Karachi's. About three or four weeks ago I went to the post office in Bath Island and posted a letter which was address to Shabbir Tiles in Site Area, Karachi, I told the fellow my mail was urgent so I was willing to pay more for registered mail or whatever services he had, but he assured me that the letter would reach its destination the next day without any extra charges since it was within the same city. Though I was posting the letter from Clifton, the from address on the envelope was of Gulshan-e-Iqbal because I was posting the letter for some one else. Next day, at about noon, that person on whose behalf I was mailing the letter recieved the letter in Gulshan! So the guy couldn't differentiate between the to address and from address!

Jamal, outsourcing is quite common. Canada Post's express service to the US is outsourced (or there is some sort of arrangement) with one of the major courier services (I think it's FedEx).

So sad to see that Pakistanis have become so cynical and skeptical about everything. Sure Pakistan Post has a long way to go, but at least give them credit for trying to improve. How can anything change if we keep discouraging and putting each other down.

i have bad experiences with Postoffices .. they are suppose to take utility bill in the evening.. but the guy in our post office just comes up with lame excuses like the drawer is locked ,the cashier hasn't showed up etc.. and even when he is on job taking bills, he just won't accept more then one bill at a time and insist that you should stand in the queue all over again if you have to pay another bill...
