‘Sounds of the Underground’

City FM 89 is organizing a concert at 02:00 p.m. (Sunday, March 18, 2007) at Alliance Francaise.

Bands performing:
> Sajid and Zeeshan.
> Aunty Disco Project (ADP).
> Above (from IBA).
> Az (from Peshawar).
> Sampurna (a collection of classical musicians).

Tickets will be available at the venue. S&Z are gooood! ADP suck, frankly. They opened for Falak (a Canada-based rock band) on January 9. I don’t know about Above, or Az. Sampurna will be something to look forward to, though! : )

PS: I have no idea about the cost of the tickets. Info, anyone?

Here’s what Omar from ADP had to say:

“However, I feel I should tell you that ADP do not suck, and the band that played before Falak was not ADP, there was a big misunderstanding which has ruined our good reputation.(Please check out the link to my blog)”

I wrote the Falak waala piece for Daily Times, and I was told that the opening band is ADP — in fact, they introduced themselves as ADP, dude! Also, the bit about using the tabla player in place of the vocalist was sarcasm — as in, it’s not supposed to be taken literally. :D And I’m not an “idiot scumbag,” even though your resentment here is perfectly understandable. :P

In any case, I’m really sorry for the misunderstanding. : )

ThanQ! And amen to that! : )

It would be helpful, though, if you could mention what kind of balance we’re referring to here!

    Dear Uzi,

Thank you for publicising the event. However, I feel I should tell you that ADP do not suck, and the band that played before Falak was not ADP, there was a big misunderstanding which has ruined our good reputation.(Please check out the link to my blog)

If you are still unconvinced, I hope you’ll come to our gig anyway and we can change your opinion :)

    Thanks,
    -Omar from ADP

Lol I was extremely surprised to hear that ADP’s performance. I have friends and cousins who swear by their performance being totally worth it though Ive yet to hear them play.

    SnZ are brilliant.

@ Omar: Whoopsie! :D I’m the “Staff Reporter” who wrote the Falak waala piece. I was told that the opening band is ADP, and I was all pumped up and wanted to talk to them. The performance, however, was horrendous, and ticked me off no end.. Apologies for the misunderstanding, though! I’ll add your bit to my post up there.. : )

    Hey Urooj,

All is forgiven…and I guess we had a part to play in the misunderstandings. Anyway I hope you saw us play today, and if you didn’t I hope you asked somebody about us and will do another piece on us at some point. Cheers!

    Hey Urooj,

Comes a bit late (mostly because your piece was done by an anonymous staff reporter. Very mysterious). But many thanks for your kind gig review, its much appreciated. Please do look us up if you’re ever in Toronto, we’ll do our best to return the favour.

ADP – Again, many thanks for playing with us. Do you have any recordings floating round the internet? We’d love to give them a listen. Look us up if you’re ever in town; we’ll put something together. We’ll do the same our next time in Karachi.

    In solidarity,

    Falak
