So lets be honest : A teacher in my university used to ask students to prepare his PhD thesis by copy pasting from different sources.

To readers utter shock that teacher is now the head of department of another university.

So much for the “high quality software” HEC intends to develop.

I agree on the issue, the total education system is in chaos.

Back when i was at school we were compelled to write answers as per our english understanding and selection of vocabulary and teachers used to mark out those who used to copy answers from BOOKS and that was considered negative.

We were asked to visit library, and read books.

NOW these days The basic issue or the problem is not with the student, no sir.

IT is “IS OUR” present day teachers at schools really TEACHERS ?? or they are the product of ‘copying’ culture who have no idea of anything outside the book, and whats really VALID and INVALID in terms of scope of education.,

Any answers which parents try to help a child explore and to pharse in different words then a book, goes bouncing over the heads of teachers, they NEGATE and reprimand the student for going out of book.

Its a tragedy even my very own brother is copy paste master and “maaa-zoor” if computer is not available.

I regretfully accept that his hand writing is as bad as any toddler having a pencil scratching on walls, his writing skills are ZERO., he cannot prepare a 2 line business regret letter mentioning reason for not being in the seminar.

His vocabulary is ZERO, he cannot spell a word ‘ intimidation’ let alone knowing the meaning of it, he is handicapped to computers and YET he finished his MBA with GPA 3.7 last year. and employed at a foreign bank. The stupid who hired him is alumni from his institute.

The only thing he is Good at is using terminologies for spellings of which he sometimes need his Franklin / Lincoln PDA.

SYSTEM NEED MAJOR SURGERY – HEC would fail like NAB Failed if system is not surgically corrected and put on Rehabilitation.

The whole system is curropt. Everyone wants a shortcut. Those who do want to learn get a “Tumhe mujh se ziada pata hai kya? Mein xx saal se parha raha houn”. Even if you were right, or just curious you get screwed & thought to be a trouble maker.

However if you do ‘chaploosi’ (Suck up), you’re all set!. Infact teachers themselves give you shorcuts, (Not to mention that the only way one passes a KU Viva (Oral test) is by paying the professor, warna you get a Suppli (i.e. repeat the entire year!)).

You’re dead on that change needs to be done on grass roots/Pre-School years. We need to take a concious effort to train our kids to judge whats right and whats wrong. A fill in the blank education is just that – Fill in the blank.

The good news is that there are ppl who have opened up Monteseris (sp?) of a good standard & are doing there part, hopefully when these kids continue on a right path as they progress through the grades, not just carry 40kg school bags!.

As for Plagirism detection, just compare what the student has written with Google Books, a lot of teachers i know are doing it & it seems to be very effective. + free of cost!.

Any efforts to improve the current system should be shot down and criticized to no end! I say we should burn all the universities and the government offices involved in the administration of our institutions!

Currently hardly 20% is the real literacy rate, that too includes a majority of sub-standard up bringing in education. Those whoa are getting some form of quality are only the ELITES in Clifton & defense all others are getting crap.

Visit any just any 10 schools and hardly 1 of them is providing real education.

What is the most sad part is the education is no more education now its simple BUSINESS. And that tell you the whole story.
