Metroblogging Streetart Contest

Many cities have been boasting about having the *best* street art in the world. Karachi hasn’t since, well, we dont have ‘art’ on our streets, just obsene grafitti. So anyways, back to the global thing, Berlin decided to make everybody put their money where their mouth is by arranging The Metroblogging Streetart Contest!

Each city takes a picture of street art they think is the best in the world. The competition is in two phases, the first one selects best works from within a city which go on to round two, where they compete agains’t entries from all over the world. The current works are showcased on flickr here.

If you’ve seen street art in karachi, and you wanna prove me wrong, just post a link here and we’ll include it in the global contest.

And updates on our own little KMB Art Contest: The entries are in, and we’ll be sending out the verdict pretty soon! Stay tuned for that! There’s a lot of fun to follow

well only form of street art i could think of here is slogans from two rival parties …

hum na houn gay humara quaid ho ga

jo quaid ka ghadar hai woh mot ka haqdar hai

    chalo chalo nishtar park chalo

I think we should post the pict. of the walls having a “paan ki peekh” on it. LOL, others might think of it as a work of art :)
Mostly ppl in the world dont know what the heck is pan and what the hell is peekh.

Where is the artistic talent of the street kids?
too busy making a loot on the traffic lights maybe.

Hmm, youth need positive recreation to do… tag art (read street art) may not seem positive, but in fact it is very good for identity creating and expression. as long as its done in the right places, and not destroying good public property.
I love taking the train in Germany and seeing all the artistic talent across the railroad tracks…
