An official on TV announced few months back that the gov has planned to put one million plants( trees) in Karachi.

Does anyone know anything on it ?

Jamal Shamsi – very informative stuff , thank you indeed. I thik TM is concerned about the general idea of trees being chopped down without much regard in and aound the city, although in this particular case one may argue that the tree pruning is somewhat justified ,but he is trying to bring awareness which is good anyways .
Kudos to you and your family for all the wonderful work that you guys are doing.

Let me jump ahead and just summarize what I think I am hearing (at least from the last couple of posts). We have zero trust in the govt. This is all part of a big govt conspiracy to make money. Absolutely no good can come out of govt projects, big or small. It’s not so much about trimming the trees. It’s about the govt.

Then why not say so? Why make all this fuss over trimming down 60 trees?

What was the point of this post? It can’t be that the govt shouldn’t trim the trees because trees have a wonderful capability of growing back. Especially if it’s for a big project that can benefit the citizens. So the point you probably wanted to make was this project is useless and does not justify the chopping/trimming/cutting of trees.

Nazim and his party’s favored contractors who are going to be real beneficiaryof this project should be given all money meant to be spend on this KEE project and asked to spare karachi and karachiites… its the money they’re interested in … expressway or no expressway they don’t give a damn…

What freakin difference does it make if the trees have been “trimmed” or totally cut down, the bottom line is someones going to become a billionaire by the time the project gets completed, which haqs totally no use for the people other than VIPS.

To all the people here who are often pro of this monsterous project KEE, if you guys can afford to, pls visit Bangkok and right thru the whole city cuts an elevated expressway, which gives the city and everlasting shitty look.

Soel, Korea recently ripped out its expressway because it was an enviromental hazzard.

Hurray Mr.Nazim for floating this brilliant idea

I don’t think this post gives the reader the full picture. Will the expressway reduce traffic congestion (and potentially reduce vehicle pollution)? What other environmental hazards does the expressway pose that you mentioned?

I also noticed the trees have not been uprooted but trimmed and should grow back.

Jamal, the tress at univ road (from hasan square onwards) are not eucalyptus. And if they are bad why previous governments implanted them? Environment walay us waqat kehan thay?

By the way, why not export eucalyptus trees to Australia? :)
