Dawn Metropolitan – Content Shortage or Design Change

Photo Courtesy Daily Dawn 26th May 2007
I didn’t get a chance to see today’s paper until a few minutes ago. At first, I couldn’t make what was folded-in-half was actually the front page of Dawn’s Metropolitan. There is a larger than life picture of a Ranger’s black boots covering 85% of the folded page area. It was the same pattern yesterday. And day before.

Is this just me or others feeling the difference too? What is it? Lack of contents or a design policy change? May be KMB and its loyal readers are snatching most of the stories from the Dawn’s Metropolitan. :)

Or it could be that they are protesting/signalling that certain news have been forcedfully blacked by military boots. The size of the picture could be the size of the news report. ;)

Dawn’s quality has definitely deteriorated over a period of time. now they publish and advertise more crap than ever. i prefer their internet version though which is much better than the hard copy. however, their website also needs some major revamping. it looks like they are still living in the 90’s.

They are definitely protesting against Busharraf’s regime policies against free speech. This is a pattern of dictatorial actions being taken against AAJ and DAWN and others.
    God SAVE Pakistan from him.

i think they’re giving more space to photographers… other day it was abro’s photo urban eye featured on main page…

difference on Metropolitan page is obvious but just take it positively coz if you notice there is no Ad on metro page.. so its either Ad or a Photo… you decide…

DAWN was and is the number one paper in Pakistan & its standard is improving and not deteriorating.

And this time yes they are definitely protesting against gov will to control free speech.

Their website is very simple yet its better that it stays that way. We don’t need fancy pages in a newspaper website.

I am eagerly waiting for their TV channel.

Dawn has lost its quality these days since they have moved most of their content ppl as well as most of their staff to their upcoming news channel and the new help they have for the paper is really not up to the mark as i see quite a few grammatical errors, spelling mistakes an some misleading facts and figures at time so i request them to kindly properly interview their new help and not hire just any tom dick and harry that walks into their office for a job…

i have been reading dawn for around 20 years now and i can say that it has regular gramatical errors esp in the reporting by the local reporters the whole things seems to have been literally translated from urdu, sindhi, punjabi…word by word!

but i have to say that it’s standard is much better then THE NEWS and others, esp THE NATION!

I am sure you guys are kidding when you ask what does that picture mean. After all all of you must have an IQ above 30 to be able to write and use a key board.

Dawn makes me yawn!! has become so boring to read! If you are looking for a job, husband, wife, car, buy it. then its the best. WOrst of all is the “Images section” , where news realted to showbiz is so less than other non-showbiz nonsense. did u guys read the article by most pathetic mohsin saeed on body odour! wat it has to do with the showbiz and what he ( mr. most hygenic) was trying to tell. and a whole page of a Dalda olive oil ke botal. and most boring articles (taken from other sources) on english programmes! fashion shoot pics and a paragraph article.
