‘WE have cushy government jobs. To hell with the rest of the country.’

The Sindh education department had recently published a list of vacancies for teachers at primary schools. Applications were to be submitted at the Civic Centre and people thronged to drop off their CVs there.

On Saturday (May 5, 2007), the last date for the submission of applications, officials who were supposed to be at the counters to receive the applications were nowhere to be seen.

With the level of joblessness in our country, especially in a teeming metropolis such as Karachi, this picture says a lot about why the situation is the way it is, and why individuals have to resort to “alternative means” in the end in order to feed themselves and their families.

Some one told me about a recent gov ad in which those stupids asked to go online and download a form and fill it and according to my friends that form was so complex and difficult that even the well educated didn’t know what to do with it.

These idiots always put a WEBSITE address as if we are living in USA. I hate that go online shit.

Unemployment is a serious matter. Everyone has the right to have a decent job. 2 major problems though:
    1- Lack of jobs
Reason: no real industrialization, no real foreign investment. Just plain BS by PM Aziz.
Risks: Pathetic law and order conditions does not permit serious investors to invest here and take advantage of cheap and young fork force.
    2- Unskilled workers
Reason 1: People aren’t getting trained on right skills which are in demand. I don’t care if you are a PhD, all I need is a good typist.
Reason 2: We are producing too many non-qualified degree holders. At some point, we will have to stop this ‘easy degree’ crap and force students to earn their degrees instead.

Live and let live in peace!
