I think it is somewhere near the foreign affairs office.
BTW the sculpture looks like a devil coming out from the earth… don’t they have anything beautiful to put on the roundabouts?

Dude – what!? Have the Illuminati arrived in town with all these scary-looking, “meaningful” sculptures?

It’s weird but most of them just look like… vulgar gestures, devils, pieces-of-crap… and I DON’T THINK it’s a Rorschach effect I’m having!

Hold on – may be *this* is aboriginal Kolachi art (I can see a boat riding a wave – after discarding much else that came forth in the mind). Whatever. The Schon Circle sculpture too. Weird. I can never make anything of it without being embarrassed of “what am I thinking!” I think of it as a rude cartoon and actually quite stupid.

This is coming from someone who knows art and symbols.

This was easy. You have St Michael’s to the left of this, and Boat Basin to the right…I pass by this everyday.

Boat Basin’s re-re-re-re-constructed, at times jammed to the teeth roundabout……….

  17. mansoor (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 12:34 pm

just about everybody guessed right. it is the boat basin roundabout.

and LOL @ devil coming out of the earth!! the sculpture symbolizes the never-giving-up spirit of the city through a boat fighting the rough seas.

wasiq: for the first time in a long time actually made a sensible comment! there should be a round of applause just for that :D

    what is it anyway?

if it’s an art installation then who’s the artist? if not then is it from public or private sector?

  20. mia (unregistered) on May 12th, 2007 @ 12:17 am

…as to who the artist is…it has to be the bhanja bhatija [or bhanji bhatiji] of some ‘power that is’…doubt a real [but unknown] artist would otherwise be so honoured….. correct me if im wrong!

  21. wasiq (unregistered) on May 13th, 2007 @ 2:25 am

@Mansoor,Umar….Thanks buddies! its mighty nice of you to acknowledge my hidden and archived genius…..after watching the whole city burn today you may have realised why i don’t show off my inherent abilities more often….lol
