A change to posted about midnight activity near Mazar-e-Quaid is the side coming from Mazaar is spared. But one could clearly see there is no sign of any pipelines for any purpose there. It was dug deep, enough for even a pedestrian to not to cross it.

Today, as I was going office at 2:45pm I received an SMS about someone killed near SF over a fight on forced closure of a shop. I also came to know that as many as over 1000 political opponents have been arrested in Karachi. DAWN support this news to some extent here. Meanwhile our ever efficient police is busy in its own work. On my way I could see the Mazaar portion fortified by the MQM banners. A TV camera man was trying to capture few guys who were using official KESC van for make sure they have the party flag right at the top. All along the way, but before SF I could see only one banner showing up that read “Adliya ke aazaadi ke naam per Ghunda Gardi bund karo”. I asked my good Mohajir driver Kaleem what he thinks about it. He uttered few things that I cannot post here but let me tell you how I summarized it in decent language. It’s “Adliya ke aazaadi ke naam per Ghunda Gardi bund karo” . . . ye sirf hamara haq hai

As I reach SF I could see Rangers & police patrolling for any untoward incident. One banner that honestly made me take MQM side asked why no Suo Moto action was taken for 25/27 missing persons of MQM. The one before that read “City of Justice, city of Peace Karachi Karachi” something. And then there were others.

As I have said earlier i don’t have camera with me these days so someone please get the pics if possible. Following is my honest opinion to the party in power in Karachi:

Honestly speaking, I don’t see any majority of MQM voters supporting what ever MQM is trying to achieve here. As I see the Sindh gov. of Wadera-Land will desperately try to indulge the MQM into wrong doings , pumping it continuously, but indirectly settling its previous score. Because its Mutahida gov in Karachi ,anything thing that goes wrong here will be thrown on its side. Whether Mush stays or goes MQM should understand that it’s the people of Karachi with whom it has to marry & live & not a dictator who is using everyone for his means. Some benefits it can achieve is, develop an image of maturity among lawyer community which is still lacking. Also, if later events favor the lawyer community the MQM will benefit from this during its own cases in courts. Being the ELDER bro they can make this all go smoothly if they show a big heart, the most impossible thing to do when in power.

countless workers of opposition have so far been arrested.. MQM haqaqi and sunni tehrik are major sufferers so far as mqm is settling old scores with them.. as for KESC trucks i also saw them in action and MQM’s supporters didn’t spared any pole or traffic signal and all of them were tied with MQM’s flag and Banners in both urdu and english…(atleast the banner makers are doing a roaring business)

Muhammed Khan junejo then Prime Minister Canceled his rally at Menar-e-pakistan lahore when PPP also decided to hold its rally at the same venue…

MQM should also act like a decent, honorable party… but alas thats a wishful thinking.. MQM being decent and honorable i guess thats too much to ask for…

I guess hoping for a peaceful day tomorrow is a distant wish now.

Maturity and power together … we have yet to find an example in our history !!

MQM was trying to enter other provinces’ politics and they don’t realize that not only will their childish action hurt their prospects there, their own vote bank in Sind is going to erode.

But then, nature plays its own thing in strange ways. Quietly and slowly, all those groups and parties with little or no moral ground are being discredited and wiped out from people’s hearts.

Sadly, MQM has chosen to be one of them. It could do better and uphold its own ideals for which they have been so touchy and gung-ho on.

… And by the way, I will be there tomorrow. On the street. If I come back alive, I’ll put in a report on what I saw.

    Wish me luck :)

Its time for Karachiites to decide do they want to continue suffering without electricity, in a lawless environment or they are for justice and prosperity.
Its time to give the clear message that Karachi wants justice and no more free ride for MQM without performance…

Oye, refrain from using such racist comments. This is internet, not your drawing room, ullooo. Don’t expose your background and sick mentality here. I would request MB to remove such comments from this post.

    MB,

So true. I hear you. I’m not against Mohajirs leading Karachi in politics but MQM has ashamed all of us.

  15. Neena (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 8:46 pm

In above Comment by Mohajir I meant Urdu-speaking Karachiites. Like most Karachiites my parents too came from India and labeled Mohajir by others. Since it implies that, we will go back where we come from, I find this term unacceptable and racist so I try to refrain from it as much as possible.

BTW, since when MQM organizing their rallies and hartals on Saturdays, last I check they usually choose working day to show their strength.

Avoid attacking ethnic sides just for the sake of it. Salman i can remove yar but UMAR (our captain) will kill me. We have an open & freehand policy unless its too out of way or spam.

  18. Salman A. (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 9:32 pm

People love to hate MQM and that is one reason behind its popularity. MQM is like one of those daytime soap operas which keep adding characters from time to time. Some boring like Isharat Ibad and some interesting like Aamir Liaquat. Tell me where else can you find both Munna Bhai and Shahrukh Khan in the same movie?? LOL

  19. verysmart (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 9:40 pm

    Dear MB,
I dont know what do you do for a living, but I am pretty damn sure that you have never been a victim of judiciary system, nor you have ever seen the inside of any court of law.

In my case, I aint that fortunate, Let me tell you why.

My father died an imediate death in 1994 leaving behind a lot of properties in his name. As per Law, the Sindh High Court has to assign my mother a letter of administration against the application submitted in 1996. In other countries this is a usual process whcih takes nearly a month or two maximum.. guess how long it took us here??? 6 YEARS… yes we were granted that document in 2002. Now for second step we have to get thos properties mutated to our names from my late father’s name, usually this takes around 6 more months in other countries after the letter of administration… guess how long it took us here??? it hasnt been done yet… yes so the process has taken us 11 years and still not completed…the reason, courts are inefficent, judges are ignorant, idiotic, rascals and unworthy, lawyers are jokers and judicial staff is a gang of thugs.

Case 2. …one of the property mentioned in above case since 1996, against which we are also given the letter of administration in 2002, has recently (in 2006) come under a RENT Argument, between us and our tenants. My asshole tenant is suggesting to the court that he has been the owner of the property since 1980s and he has submitted som fake documents sayign he boutbh it from my mother (my mother is not even the Owner of the property). We have submitted the letter of adminsitration given the high court mentioning that property as owned by my father. since 1979 and along with some old telephone and electricity bills on my father’s name and the copies of the ownership documents. This is an OPEN and SHUT case in any country and the court shall also hang the bloody imposter by his testicals in a decent country after the first hearing. In our case.. .the whole thing is still in court after an entire year.

Now on thursday 9th may, I took a day off from my office, and my mother accompanied me to the court where we had a hearing promised at 1130hrs.. as the proceedings were about to be started (after a half day strike by the lawyers was over) some lawyers barged into the courtroom started distrubing the furniture and shouting BAND KAROO, KHATAM KAROO, BAHAR JAOO..and threating the JUDGE to suspend all activity.

My question is: why shall I respect the judiciary, why shall I think that they can change anything? or why shall I trust them after all??

If you have ever been to the court rooms they are worse than public toilets and your case files are stored as if they are refuse paper stack.

The people who cant even straighten their own act, who cant even put their act together, how can they ever be trusted to put my country on the right footings?

I am sure i am not the only victim, the court history is full of cases runnign for over 30 years now…

I cant respect the system or its owners. So kindly wake up from your judicial wet dreams and face the reality

I d like to second that!

wht dz bagaraat means?? Baga Raat?

may b jamash has more to say on the subject :p

  21. Salman A. (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 10:47 pm

    @verysmart:
We also had to go through the mutation process on our current house. It sucks like hell. No matter how hard you try, you can’t blame MQM for that. Remember, ‘herr shaakh pe ulloo baitha hai’..

  22. MB (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 10:52 pm

    @VERYSMART
I should sure be with you on that story but what if i haven’t seen judiciary from inside?

There is no point if i narrate here ten horrible stories of people being the target of politics.

I ain’t advocating them. I firmly believe in what the elders have said centuries back that only two people are enough to show the overall state of the society, THE TEACHER and the JUDGE

  23. verysmart (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 11:22 pm

yes MB, you have totally said it my man.

Judge and the Teacher both are corrupt in this country… rest is a product of this system… a compromised nation like me, you and all of us.

  24. ash (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 11:36 pm

lol…i cant stop laughing…punjabi;s are beghairat down with the MQM ??? hello ? earth to Mosa :)
oh. wait, did he say punjabi’s are ba-ghairat? (with ghairat?) which would make him an urdu speaker….
I always call myself a karachiite but i’m hard pressed for an answer when someone asks me what ethnicity …i dont agree with “muhajir” and loads of pakistani’s are “urdu speakers” infact some urdu speakers are more “english speakers”. Typically i say i am karachi bhaiyya which is strange coming from a woman :) any other ideas? What do the other guys say ?

    Doctor:

‘atleast the baner makers are doing a roaring business…”

do u really think the MQM had paid the baner makers? all the banners are made for free as the baner makers love their life more then a few thousand rupees that they will never get from mqm!

  28. d0ct0r (unregistered) on May 12th, 2007 @ 1:58 am

@Petarian_88 poor banner makers can’t do it all from their own pocket.. MQM uses the unlimited govt funds plus the bhatha money it collects from you and me..

  29. Imran (unregistered) on May 12th, 2007 @ 2:10 am

    @verysmart

    I HEAR YOU!
Having read both your cases (specially case 1), i’d like to cut a long story short by saying that after fighting in THE CORRUPT COURTS OF PAKISTAN for 11 long years, eventually we were left with no choice but to buy back OUR OWN HOUSE in KDA-1, from our very own tenants: fake sale deed papers, unscrupulous lawyers & a system of justice which is ON SALE. That is PAKISTANI JUSTICE for you.

    Actually, we ALL are BEGHAIRAT.

  30. Petarian_88 (unregistered) on May 12th, 2007 @ 2:10 am

    Doctor:

i guess you are right. in any case it’s not the party money.

I just don’t get one thing. y can’t the MQM stage it’s rally the next day i.e 13th of May.

it only announced it;s rally when the CJP’s scheduled vist to khi was confirmed. it was clearly a recation to that!

i just pray that there would be no blood shed tomorow.

even the idiot chaudhries of PML-Q had some sense and did not stage rallies in lahore when the CJP was there.

i just can’t get it why the MQM chose direct confrontation to a descent form of political protest!!!
